I love Nate

I can't believe all the hate Nate is getting on this forum, much like Big Baby, I firmly believe that he is playing within his role with a occasionally bad shot, but that occasional bad shot happens to everyone. He is instant offense, a high energy player, and if he is properly managed by his coach, can be very productive(IMO Doc is doing a great job at it)

You claim Nate's shooting percentage is better than most backup guards in the league, so it would be great if you could give us some evidence.

The problem with Nate is more than just the percentages, in my opnion. The guy makes a lot of dumb plays and his shot selection has been pretty bad this season. Since he can't make any shots, it was great to see him bring it on the defensive end against the Kings. He needs to continue to do that to add value to the team.

I just don't think he is a Celtics type of player and I will be shocked if he is not moved in the offseason.

Question to the OP: how many games this year has Nate provided "instant offense?"  My guess would be 4 or 5 games max.

Doc has already mentioned that he was considering not playing Nate before the Lakers game.

Taking a quick look at backup guards on contending teams, Nate is NOT shooting better than most of them. In fact, his shooting percentage from both inside and outside the arc is only better than Steve Blake and Gilbert Arenas.  From behind the arc, he is better than JJ Barea, Jason Terry, Earl Watson and Sefalosha.  The following all shoot better than nate both inside and behind the arc: Shannon Brown, Gary Neal, George Hill, JJ Reddick, Kyle Korver, James Harden, James Jones and Eddie House. He is about equal with Eric Maynor. CJ Miles is much better inside the arc and equal to Nate from behind the arc.

Here is the place where Doc talked about benching Robinson and yeah he did say it but there is a few other things that are said that make me not worry about Nate's game and the slump.

"He was fantastic," Rivers said.

It's not the first time Robinson has had a stretch in which his shot, for whatever reason, just doesn't seem to be falling.

When that happens, Robinson starts to break down his game to find the problem and fix it quickly.

He watches video to see how the ball is positioned on his hands. He pays closer attention to his lift on shots as well as his follow-through.

"I watch everything about the shot that I shoot," he said.

He also watches Ray Allen shoot to pick up pointers, in addition to checking old footage of himself in games in which he shot the ball well.

A lot of people make something out of nothing and when you look for mistakes of course you will find them. Bottom line a lot of people hate on him but if he traded him and got a bum in return we'd all be saying "wish we had Nate back."... The devil you know over the devil you don't.

I firmly believe if Delonte was healthy in mind and body that Nate would have been traded for a swingman either sf/sg or sf/pf.  Nate has done an admirable job when pressed in pg duty.  He is not a pg and as a sg he is NOT instant offense.  His shot selection is poor.  I'm much happier when he is pressuring the ball on defense and shooting on the swing of the ball.  Our team is far to good offensively to have him jacking jumpers the first time he gets a wiff of the rim.  Ever notice how well rondo (not comparing them since there is no comparison) uses the clock.  We most times get the best shot even if he runs the clock to 5 seconds (or under)

That's the way the Celtics play, when he's hot he got the ball and changed those 4-5 games, other times it was Daniels then Big Baby. It's not his job to carry a team, he is a role player and his job is to shoot when open just like any shooter(yes Nate is a shooter)

There is no disputing that..

I love him, too.  He's a solid role player who is sure to have some big games in the post-season. I think his attitude fits this team.  Hopefully he'll continue taking the ball to the hole more.  I have no doubt, though, that he'll also continue to "jack up" quick jumpers.  Let's just hope he starts making them at a better clip.

He more often fails to step up when we need him to.

He has been energy but NOT instant offense.

I am still waiting for that to show up and believe it will. I also love Nate but because I think we have yet to see the best of him.

We will see the best of nate when and ONLY when Delonte West comes back. Not to say that all nate's troubles are because of delonte being out, but it will help him immensely once he's back and takes the pressure off him being the distributor. Mark me words he'll look like earlier this year again

Nate plays well in big games... especially against the Lakers.  He gets amped up.  He can sit forever and then come out and bang shots.  That's kind of the perfect guy for this team.  A "better" player would probably come in rusty if asked to do what Nate does. 

A "better" player may also complain about minutes which Nate does not.
