Makes sense that Pierce and Allen would face each other in the all-star weekend 3 point contest.  Pierce is the defending champ and Ray Allen will just have passed Reggie Miller for the most 3's ever.  Pierce is pushing for that to happen.  It would make that a fun event.

They both belong there, and it would be fun to watch.  I'd love to see them squaring off in the Finals.

That would make all star weekend somewhat exciting. I would love to see this happen.

I bet it could - Pierce is in as defending champ, and I'm pretty sure Ray could be in just about any year he was willing.  Throw in the publicity of the chase for the record and the league would probably love to have him there.

That would be fun to watch. Hopefully we'll see it happen.

They really should.  Probably will wait to see if Ray makes the team.  If he doesn't, I can't see him showing up just for the contest.

But if he does, the NBA would be foolish to turn down 2 premier stars wanting to take part.

Defending champ vs. All-time record-holder?

Yes, please.

(And the same goes for the NBA Finals)

It would be cool for us Celtics fans but the NBA probably tries to somewhat diversify the contestants to be fair.  They probably do it as a means to promote lesser known players as well

LOL. TP.  Guess we'll be rooting for Allen then.

Pierce vs. Allen in the final round would be sweet (except that last year didn't they have 3 players in the final round, not quite as cool if it's Pierce vs Ray vs somebody else).

Also both Pierce and Ray have won the 3-point contest once already, so who takes the overall lead between the two could add to the excitement, just like Kobe one-upping Shaq (so far) in the rings department).  It would be so cool if Ray or Pierce won, then the post contest interview went something like this:

Craig Sager: How does it feel to win your 2nd contest?

Pierce:  I got one more than Ray.  You can take that to the bank.

Not quite Ray's style, but I can definitely see Pierce doing that especially after his "It's been a pleasure to bring my talents to south beach now on to Memphis." tweet.

Dirk and Terry, as teammates, competed together in two consecutive contests.

What a blast that would be ... makes complete sense, and what a sweet scenario - two horses in the race!
