Team Assist Differential (need help)

Yesterday the Celtics managed a +24 in assists over the Lakers! This is no coincidence: the Celtics were flowing offensively all night, and the only offense the Lakers had was Kobe isolation.

Now, my father and I were talking and he said it must be one of the highest team assists differentials of recent years for the Celtics. I find this hard to believe.

He and I are really interested in finding some stats on the highest team assist differential for Celtics games. Anybody know or have a place to look?

Much appreciated. Hopefully the Cs stay in rhythm for the rest of the regular season to lock up HCA through the playoffs.

You'd have to look at the box score for each individual game.  I doubt this is a statistic that's going to be published in a complete table view.  At least the box scores are readily available if you are willing to spend the time.

Anyway, hopefully, I understood your question correctly, and it looks like your dad's right.

Boston Celtics regular season assist per game stats:

2010-2011: APG: 24.7, Opponent APG: 18.6, Difference: +6.1

2009-2010: APG: 23.5, Opponent APG: 19.3, Difference: +4.2

2008-2009: APG: 22.7, Opponent APG: 18.9, Difference: +3.8

2007-2008: APG: 22.4, Opponent APG: 18.8, Difference: +3.6

Oops!! I just re-read your original post, and it looks like you were looking for highest individual game assist differentials.

My previous response is probably not what you were looking for at all, and something I'm sure you could have found yourself.

I do think it's kind of interesting, though, that our assists per game average, and assists per game differential have been progressing year by year over the last four years.

Your father is correct. In the last 24 seasons, the Cs played 8 games in which they achieved a >= 20 assist differential. Last Sunday game versus LAL tops the list. Curious side note: 5 of those 8 games happened in the last 2 years.
