San Antonio currently has a 4 game lead on us.  And though I think we could win in game 7 of the finals on the road, i rather not have to worry about that.  The problem is SA is a vet team that wont make alot of dumb mistakes.  The good news is we beat the once and will play them again so we need to catch up three more games to overtake them.

San Antonio goes on a 9-game road trip.  That is the good news.  The bAd news is they seem to be the worst teams in the league.  Still if they could get a couple of bad losses it would be great.  Best shots are portland on the 1st, Lakers on the 3rd, and Chicago on the 17th.

Of course on the flip side during this road trip of SA we play the likes of Dallas, Orlando, Miami, and of course LA again...all at our place at least.

So if we can gain some ground over the next three weeks we can be in position to overtake them, if not or if we lose too much ground, we could be in serious trouble.

Thoughts?

After last season's ending, I would hope we would play with more urgency during the regular season against weaker opponents. Unless we start doing that, I see little chance of catching San Antonio.

"We" can catch them but we(The Celtics team) have to feel its critical to do so. I don't think we have the sense of urgency we need. I don't see LA beating SAS so I do think it comes down to us and them.

Imho we are going to have to go on a strong streak with everyone back. We should soon have even JO back along with DW. We are going to have to win about 67 games

I would be fine is the Spurs had the best overall record as long as we had the 2nd best.  I think we can beat them without needing HCA, but I'd rather have it against the likes of LA, Miami, and Orlando.

I'm intrigued to hopefully see SAS and LAL play eachother in the western finals.  I think those two teams are fairly evenly matched talentwise with a slight edge to LAL but home court for SAS could sway the balance back towards them a little.  I'm not sure who will come out on top, it should be an exciting series though.

Even the bad teams have good nights especially when you're on the road. The Spurs has benefited so far with a decent schedule but Feb.should tell us more of who they really are as a team.

I think we have to continue playing in the same way.Is important that JO and DW back soon, to refresh Pierce, Allen and KG to the playoffs.
We have to be dosed, the season is long and most important is to get everyone healthy playoff.

I still am in disbelief that the Spurs have had next to zero injury/health concerns.

Not that I am hoping for injuries to other teams, but it really is bound to happen. Even teams with a young nucleus have to deal with injuries (See Miami Heat).

So for SA, I think it will happen soon. I think the Celtics are past their stretch of injuries.

Based on this belief, I think the C's are in a prime spot right now to go on a long stretch of dominant basketball and catch the Spurs.

That being said, if the Spurs really do stay 100% healthy for the whole year, there is no way we are catching them. Much like if we were healthy all year, we would win 65-70 games.

I still expect the Lakers to come out of the West, so the priority would be to get first seed in the East. We have a pretty good shot at that.

+1. I don't mind if Spurs wil have HCA on us, as long as we finish ahead of Lakers and Heat.

This upcoming stretch of games is key. Miami can catch up if we slip so we gotta play great ball going into the break.

Picked up one on San Antonio last night as they lost to Portland and we won against Sacremento.  San Antonio plays the LAkers on Thur, I kinda hope the lakers win but I also kinda hope a meteor hits the stadium

good one

but its a nice test for unexistant lakers defense

p.s. I am a firmy believer that if you dont play D during season as a team, it will be tough for them to pull it together during playoffs.
Seems like not having Barnes and all those injuries are really killing LA.
Like No having Their backup SF PF will kill MIami in the east.
Like not having Perk or Quis could kill us in playoffs.
yes i say Quis and Delonte and Perk, and BBD we need a fully healthy bench to be champs

Very tough stretch for the Celtics coming up. Gotta take it 1 at a time. Mavs have been playing iffy the past couple of weeks, same as Miami who had lost 3 in a row. Orlando seems to be up and down as well. The Lakers are going to want revenge but wont be able to get in Boston, I see the Celtics taking it to them again. So all in all if Boston can win 3 out of 4 there which is very possible that would be amazing and have a great chance at the number 1 seed in the east that is.
