A bad scenario for us going into the playoffs, I think, is more possible than other teams given injury history/age; assume that:

-Shaq gets injured, can't finish the season
-JO attempts a comeback, can't, out for season

That means at the 5 you have an undersized BBD, a potentially still rehabbing Perkins and one of two players; Semih or 'Sheed.

I like what Semih brings and potential for the future, but if THAT almost-worse-case-but-still-plausible-scenario unfolded, I would have to roll the dice with 'sheed.

Semih's shown he can rebound against crappy big men, hustle defensively and finish with dunks when he has a running start.  But he's an easy target for a steal whenever he has the ball, he has extremely poor hands for catching passes in traffic or grabbing boards when boxed out and he can't defend without fouling.

If Sheed's in any kind of playing shape, you go with him every time.  He's roughly on par with Semih as rebounder, hustling less but more likely to secure boards in his area (both are terrible rebounders in general).  Poorer shot selection, but much more offensive skill.  Extremely sure handed with the ball.  Adds an entirely new dimension to the team with his deep shooting (better range and accuracy than Baby in this role).  Defends extremely well on man.  Slower than Semih in rotating, but smarter.

I'd happily trade/cut either Gody or Semih to add Sheed if he's in playing condition.

If Avery Bradley were playing pretty well would we be talking about the need to bring back Dana Barros or Joe Forte or Tony Delk or Ricky Davis or Wally or Bassy or Gerald Green? How about Tony Allen?

This is a lot like that.

I love how everyone wants to trade our starting center.

Shaq = out
Perk = just came back, very limited
JO   = out
Semih= Playing really, really well as a rookie who barely speaks english on the best team in the league.

Yea let's get rid of semi....

Oh, and he's the only 7 footer on our team that doesnt weigh 500 lbs and shoot 60% from the free throw line.

You wanna talk about toughness on our team then why aren't you including Semih? Even the TNT announcer said tonight if you go up to Semih and say "Is your shoulder hurt?" what do you think he'll say? He's gonna say "I'm the starting center for the boston celtics, my shoulder is fine"

Semih is a rugged dude, I hope we keep him and if we have to get rid of anyone let it be nate, bradley, wafer or gody. We cant afford to give up our only reliable center.
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

Sheed was the man in the first half of game 7 last finals.

Unfortunately, his body fell apart, and he is likely in poor shape right now.

If Sheed was in shape, I would consider signing him if we could free a roster spot with a 2 for 1 trade. Sheed isn't good enough to eat salary since the guys already under contract are doing their jobs quite fine. Perhaps I could accept waiving Gody, but it seems like wasted money at a position that is not a position of need.

If Sheed comes back, fine. But he's not worth cutting Erden for. If you can't have both, I'd rather have Erden.

I think that I'd rather have Semih because he could be a productive backup center for The C's in the future.

But if we need Rasheed it'd be because Jermaine O'Neal won't be available for the playoffs. In that scenario couldn't we just orchestrate a buy out of J.O. to create Sheed's roster spot?

Jermaine O'Neal gets drafted in 96' and hardly plays for 4 years behind Sheed. Now 15 years later J.O. is hurt with the possibility of being replaced by the same guy he couldn't get minutes from. I love The NBA, there's so many little story-lines.
