Someone forwarded me this video and it brought back a lot of great memories.  Boxing used to be something special, and Hagler was at the center of the peak of my fanhood.  man, I wish he'd gotten a few pops in on Sugar Ray!

TP!

Marvelous Marvin Hagler was the man.

Lol I was worried he died or something when I saw this random thread.  Glad to know he's still out there.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yeah, I waited tables at a Chinese restaurant in North Conway, and he liked to hang out in the lounge there and drink.  He seemed like a cool guy, although he seemed like more of a loner than I would expect.  He definitely didn't have an entourage at that point.

So the great Roy Hobbs once waited tables at a Chinese restaurant? I wonder if those lucky patrons realized they were getting their pu pu platters from a future legend!

Regarding Hagler and boxing in general...its time to get the sport on the networks...it needs to be reintroduced to this generation. The last heavyweight superstar was ...I can't even remember.

My Dad took me to see Hagler fight when I was a kid at the Centrum. Some British fighter as I remember....

Sugar Ray wanted no part of a rematch...too bad. Man he could hit. Both hands.

I wish I was old enough to see boxing when it was great. Nowadays I barely watch. I try to keep up but it is barely interesting at this point other than the obvious megafights.

I honestly wonder if it has the potential to regain it's popularity. Everyone longs for the "next great American heavyweight," but at this point I'm not even sure if that enough.

I think I saw this match. I was only 10 at the time. My parents had split up and I used to get up in the middle of the night with my father when I was visiting him to watch all of these matches.

I hated hagler in deep admiration
I hated him because he was that good

I always rooted for arguello, and mano de piedra and sugar from time to time.
But wow...
Hagler was a beast

Strong as a stone.
and ultra effective.

I hated him.but admire him at the same time
