Who should the C's have given the MLE to last offseason? (Instead of J. O'Neal)

I like Morrow, but we needed a center.  Also, Danny wanted to keep guys to 2 year deals, to improve our flexibility heading into 2012 (the projected "rebuild" year.)  Morrow signed for 3 years; Frye signed for a cap-killing five seasons.

wonder if he would accepted 3 year deal to come to a posible championship team

I agree with the center part, but Morrow's 3 year deal was for 12 mil. Surely if his decision was financial he'd take 2 years at 11.8. I do question if he took the deal with the Nets to increase PT

Dampier is horrible, I can't believe someone even mentioned him.

The C's HAD to get a center because PERK is out for over half the season.  There may be other players at other positions who are better but that's not what this team needed and those responses can't be viewed as realistic.

There's a pretty large pool of centers who aren't very talented; they just have NBA jobs because they are 6-11 or taller and in reasonable shape.  Sheldon Williams fits that bill.  He's not good enough to be on a title team which is why he wasn't even considered an option.  I guess what I'm trying to say is the C's were after a good/decent center, not just a warm body so they could spend money on other positions where they already have talent.

Doc and the organization don't even trust Semih; he's only here because we have no other choice if our other guys are unable to play.

I think JO was the right choice, but unfortunately it hasn't worked out due to injury; not due to the fact that he is healthy and isn't performing.

considering who was available, what they signed for and how JO and Shaq have produced when on the court, I can live with the results. 

If JO's can give 12-15 minutes a game in the playoffs and Shaq is still able to contribute at that point, we're golden for a title.

I don't think there was another C I would have spent the MLE, I didn't want Shaq for that much money. Honestly it worked out the best we could have hoped for, and Jermaine very well might give us something yet.

The bottom line is that you're probably going to get a Kwame Brown-level talent for the MLE unless you find a ring hunter or are willing to take a risk on a player with risks such as injury or attitude problems or a young player who you are paying on the basis of potential without any demonstrated results on the court.  The choice is guaranteed mediocrity or a gamble that can result in something much more.
