I think it's more over-confidence than anything, but it's nice to see that the Clippers Front Office is "at least" realizing that they will have to spend money on him if they want to contend, and sell tickets, merchandise, etc. I think they want to pull off an extension much like OKC did with Kevin Durant, before free agency even happens.

 Blake will definitely resign with the clippers when his rookie contract is up. They will be able to offer him much more money than any other team because they have his bird right.

But if the Clippers aren't contenders for that new contract he could leave after that one when he is about 29 or 30 because he will have a max contract in his bank account .

I think the Clippers also have to be very committed to Eric Gordon. He is unbelievably talented, and underrated IMO.

They better keep Blake Griffen or Stern will step in confiscate the franchise from Donald Sterling (he should have done that years ago).
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Agreed.  They have alot of good pieces.  They're one of those teams that on paper, they should be a playoff team in my opinion.  But they're just another one of those underachieving teams that can't get it together on the court.

Have you watched their last 14/15 games? If they can possibly get another string of wins, and get some wins on the road, they might have a shot at the playoffs.

With Griffin / Gordon / Aminu / Jordan, the Clippers might have something going for them (eventually) the way the Thunder do with Durant / Westbrook / Green / Ibaka.  It remains to be seen, but it's possible.

They won't make the playoffs this year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a similar jump in the next couple of years to the one that the Thunder made when they went from being a 30ish win team to a 50ish win team capable of perhaps winning a playoff series.

The Clippers will have to swim against the overflowing current of their history in order to hold onto Blake and ride his hopefully great career to success, but we shall see.  Surely he's a transcendent talent already, and has plenty of room to grow from here.

...  with the Clippers' history, he'll suffer a career-ending injury before the end of next season.

It will not happen.  We will have to enjoy Blake from afar...at least until he reaches his early 30's like KG.

I'd LIKE to see him in green but I doubt we'll ever get to see that. Photoshop anyone?

Here is the same guarantee, phrased slightly differently:

I guarantee that Donald Sterling, who is:
 a. the consensus worst owner the league has ever seen, as well as a horrible human being by most accounts;
 b. the man whose draft history includes 22 top 10 picks, exactly one of whom has been to an All-Star game in a Clippers uniform;
 c. the man whose greatest free agent signing in 28 years is Baron Davis, despite being in the most attractive FA destination city in the NBA - the same Baron Davis who promptly submitted the worst two seasons of his career;
 d. the man who drafted Lancaster Gordon, Benoit Benjamin, Michael Olowokandi and Melvin Ely above John Stockton, Chris Mullin, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce and Amare Stoudemire;

...that Donald Sterling will not do any number of 10 things like those above to make Blake Griffin run like the wind the second he hits free agency.

Just going on some of the things Griffin has said I don't think he will stay there.

He basically said if management is dedicated to winning he will stay.  And we all know that the Clippers are dedicated to making a profit above making the playoffs.  He will not spend more then half his career there.
