Yes, but not that many more than 10, unfortunately. They're getting production out of absolutely everyone on the team, and even their "high pick" rookies of Blair, Hill and Neal are playing very well.

I suspect that they will eventually hit the injury bug, and they will come back down to Earth, but they will still most likely finish with the best record in the league.

The Spurs are one of the few teams in the last ten years who are going to have a superior regular season record, but will not be a serious championship contender.

To answer your question, yes they will lose more than 10 games. I predict they will lose 17 games when it's all said and done.

For those missing the point, I started this thread in hopes of getting the same results that occurred after I posted the Heat are ridiculous thread. Don't think it will start tonight, as lowly and awful Toronto visits the spurs.

They are beating teams with Duncan playing like 25-30 minutes a game. He hasnt even needed to perform top notch in order to get the team to where they are right now. Its incredible how well these guys are playing and they are only going to get better in the playoffs.

I completely disagree.

They are currently playing like the Suns teams that they knocked out year after year. They play no defense and rely on the 3-ball.

Everything they are doing to win is a proven failure in the playoffs, AND the complete opposite of the rest of Duncan's successful Spurs' teams.

I hope they do get the HCA in the West over the Lakers, but I don't necessarily know if that will be enough. The Lakers are too big for them IMO. We beat them without KG and Perk, so I don't really fear them at all in a long series.

I didn't know that not one starter has missed a game yet. That's pretty incredible, and fortuitous.

You mean like the Dallas Mavericks in '07?

I'm thinking that by this point in the season the Spurs have proven themselves to be a serious contender in the West and should be favored to win a playoff series against any of the elite Western Conference teams except the Lakers where they may still have a 50% (or greater) chance of winning that series. That team looks like they might have homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs the way they're playing. We were fortunate to beat them at home during Garnett's injury. Lets hope that if the C' do meet the Spurs in the playoffs that we can end their unbeaten streak in the NBA Finals.

You're thinking of 2007, right? In 2008 they finished near the bottom the of the Western Conference playoff teams, IIRC. In 2007, they won 67 games and got bounced in the first round. They were the defending Western Conference champs, so they had what it took. Either it was Nellie knowing the team too well, or they hit an ill-timed skid.

The only teams I see beating San Antonio are LA, Dallas if they get their act together AND make a move to replace Butler, and maybe one other wild card team that hasn't shown themselves yet (Utah? OKC?)

The minimimum I am hoping is that the team from LA gets a credible challenge in the West this season.  I'd like to see LA play Dallas (with healthy Dirk) in the semi-final and then take on the Spurs away in the WCF.  This will at least come close to matching what the Eastern Conference champ will need to do to get out of the East.

East is not as deep but much stronger at the top than the West, making for a much tougher playoff experience.

Spurs will lose more than 10, but they sure are looking solid to me.  They may not be as long as LA but they are deep and smart.

I really hope the celtics and spurs can finish with better records than LA so that LA really has to earn their trip to and through the finals like we did last year. I can't wait to have HC over them this year!

Yep, in the past 3 playoffs, they have had 11 of their 12 series start in LA. The lone one they didn't started - and ended joyfully - in Boston.

You're right, my B. I was thinking that as I was writing it but then forgot to change it afterwards. Sorry for the confusion, KungPoweChicken...

He does not want to see us in the finals again...sounds more concerned than complimentary.
