I don't see them beating us in 7 games, but it'd be a tough series. Dwight has certainly come a long way.

He now has some offensive game. Makes him a tougher player, indeed. And he's making more of his free throws.

And I must say - I was wrong about my initial assessment of their trade. That Ryan guy? he almost killed us, and seems to be a decent backup for Dwight.

Hat's off to Otis Smith.

I think Dwight maxxed out last night, though. He won't have that kind of game next time we meet. Perk, Shaq, and hopefully JO will be there.

Celtics proved to me once again last year - don't need homecourt advantage, etc - to (Almost) get it done. Now? Add a hungrier Green Team, deeper, and with a renewed sense of urgency?

The skies the limit with this Green bunch.

I see Mr. "pride goes before a fall" has changed his stance and decided to make some bold predictions of his own. Good for him. The talking has been too one-sided in our favor anyway. May the best team (that would be us natch  ;D) win if we meet in the playoffs.

P.S. Come back leaner and meaner than ever Perk!
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

I really don't like Dwight you supposed to say that with some confidence or some anger he is sitting there smiling like that made me giggle and I know that makes the Celtics giggle as well cause we have the man the single handley makes him look like an idiot on offense.

They dont try to beat an opponent, they try just to out score them ... that may work against the knicks who dont play defense , but not against us.

The Magic are sixth in defensive efficiency.

That doesnt matter to me, we shot over 50% that game, and seems to me like they were chucking desperation 3's when they were losing. In my eyes, Magic = Chuck 3's > Defense.

They are notorious for their onslaught of treys. That's what they do. Not my cup of tea or a recipe for success IMO. But that doesn't have much to do with the D.

As for the C's... They are a very effecient team. The C's can shoot over 50% against any team. We shot 54% against the Heat the last time they met, and they are a good defensive team. We shot 51% and 53% against the Bulls in our two wins.

Playing Devil's advocate, what exactly is he supposed to say:

"We suck and the Celtics are great and will win the championship so we may as well just go home now."

Come on....this is a non story
Nick's got us there. Although he could look at how they got crushed last year and how he's the new Patrick Ewing and keep his mouth shut

This is a great example helping to prove my theory......the era of the superloser is upon us. Dwight Howard is leading the way.  Carmelo is holding his bridal train. Lebron is dropping flower petals.

This is just to play devils advocate, as obviously none of these guys are his equal, but what were people saying about Jordan and Dominique Wilkins?

Jordan in 6 yrs had 2 yrs leading the league in scoring, MVP's, and set unprecedented statistical records. Frequently got bounced, even swept by the C's before winning his first title after 6 yrs when he got the right teammates and the right coach.

We know Wilkins story.

Just sayin, superlosers are only superlosers until they superwin..then they're just super.

And one of Melo, Bron, Dwight, or CP3 will win a title.

How quickly I forget that facts are immaterial.

I had been laboring under the delusion that one poor performance does not trump a half-season sample size in making a value judgment.

Looks like the Magic "heads" are bitter about the Celtics lately, here's what Otis Smith had to say about the team :

Quote
Sentinel: Is the team tougher now?

Smith: Tough is relative. Tough to who? Is anybody tough?

Sentinel: One could argue the Celtics are tough.

Smith: They act tough. They're not really tough. They act tough.

What do you expect him to say?  "I am going to lay down so the Celtics can walk all over me."

Could of, should of, would of... They lost.  Dwight can not play much better than he did that game.  Arenas is recovering but so was KG.  We didn't have West either who would upgrade our bench considerably.  So all that talk is a wash.  I think Hedo helps them immensely as a team but we have their number providing we stay healthy.

I can't believe Anderson put up those numbers on us.  We have to take him more seriously,  He is scrub.  He scored ten in Dec on us and sixteen the last game.  We have to contain him better.  He should not be averaging 13 a game against us.

So the not-so-tough Celtics just beat Orlando...which according to my math, means Orlando's even weaker than Otis Smith's view of the Celtics. Meaningless banter, but you know the C's are listening.

While I cannot stand Dwight nor his personality, I have to admit that the guy worked hard in the offseason and is a much bigger offensive threat now. I still think the Celts beat them in a 7-game series.
