What a great move by Doc Rivers to put Kevin Garnett into the starting lineup tonight against the Orlando Magic. Just by Garnett being on the floor fired up all the Celtics. How about the play of Ray Allen tonight. Hitting some huge baskets down the stretch. You know what makes these victories so sweet is the fact that Celtics beat 8 players on the court tonight. Five of the Magic players and the 3 officials. Led by Dan Crawford sending the Magic to the free throw line 36 times. Celtics went to the line 26 times. Dwight Howard, the dirtiest player in the NBA, went to the line 18 times, almost as many times as the Celtics whole starting five. These games against the really good teams take on the same theme. If the Celtics win, they have to beat 8 players. By the way Howard had only 1 personal foul. Howard is a guy who signed a basketball contract to play football. But as long as the NBA is trying to promote Howard this will always be the case. I really dislike the way David Stern runs this league. You know he really dislikes the Celtics.

meh, I actually noticed a few calls go our way that probably shouldn't have. Shaq got a superstar call vs D12 on his 1st basket of the game (the and-1)  Howard was standing still, he just turned his upper body to look at shaq and shaq plowed into him lol. It was awesome.

I am past all the blaming stuff on the referees for our foul trouble. We get fouls because we play defense. Watchin the celtics is like watchin someone play NBA2k11 They just body up on people and swat for the ball until they get a steal, foul or get blown by. Most of the time they get the steal or the foul...

I would not word it like that, but I think you're on to something.

I think the Celtics are taught to be overly aggressive. They get more fouls called, because they commit more fouls.

The reality becomes that if the refs called every single foul the celtics committed, the starting frontcourt would be out in 10 mins. I'm talking every shirt grab, every push on the shot/rebound, everything. You can't have that, so the refs have to either take a stand and give Shaq/KG/Perkins/BBD 2-3 fouls before midway through the 2nd (which sometimes happens), or let them play.

Now, I'm not saying that sometimes we don't get ridiculously inconsistent refs, and sometimes have a fair amount of calls go against us. That's true.

But we foul a lot..like I'm thinking every defensive possession there is a foul somewhere in there.

Was at the game tonight; they usually show replays of all the bad calls at the stadium, more so than on TV.  There were SEVERAL bad calls that went against the C's such as ghost fouls where there was absolutely no contact.  I mean no contact, you can't even debate whether that's a foul or not.  I suspect they just wanted to keep the game close since it was on national TV.

I have a very very tough time believing Howard only fouled once! Give me a break. ::)

Oh, and for posterity, for those of you in the chat...I said "I love KG" at least 3 times. He was ordinary tonight. Just the normal, off-puttingly intense, trash talking, instigating, smart-headed, sharp shooting, hustling his nuts off KG that I expect. Just incredibly ordinary, as long as you're ordinarily expecting a MVP caliber superstar.

I'm not so upset about the low number of fouls called against him; there weren't really too many plays that stood out as an obvious foul.  It was at the other end of the floor where the C's didn't even touch him and he gets a whistle and gets 2 free throws.  I guess it's just the automatic superstar whistle.

Last game, Howard wasn't getting the awesome calls. Tonight he was..it happens. Dwight got the benefit of a lot of whistles tonight.

I didnt mean that they just blindly swipe at the ball, though I see how you might have drawn that conclusion. What I meant I they just get on thier guys, when I play those nba games I play my butt off defensively, I always put pressure on guys, i'm always tryin to get my hand on the ball and often time I block shots, get steals and force turnovers. That is how I was trying to describe them, they are so good at it that its like watchin a video game. I also draw a lot of fouls when I play :P

A lot of times when we win close games people seem to act like they should have been blow-outs. The fact is we played a hell of a team tonight. Arenas may have not helped them very much but turk and j-rich are solid players. Jameer nelson is really good, D12 is a beast.. We beat a really good team tonight, regardless of how many fouls we called we got the win. I think if there was really some crazy conspiracy within the officiating to make the celtics lose games then we would probably lose some games, no?

we're 31-9, thats pretty darn good. On psce for 60 wins and  we've been plagued with injuries all year. Rondo has missed 9 games, KG has missed 9-10, perk been out all year, shaq has probably missed at least 7-10, JO has missed like 30 and is going to miss the next 30. Our backup backup backup big has been playing with a bum shoulder, groin pulls and the flu. Our best backup pg/sg broke his wrist and has pretty much missed every game.

BE HAPPY our team owns!

Our 'try to get away with as much as we can' method works wonders in the playoffs.

Miss your presence and contributions, Bud ... hope all's well.

And awesome to have KG back ... he made the game-winning difference in this one, and just having his energy on the court is HUGE! Stay healthy, Big Guy!
