True or false: Anthony Randolph has more upside than a projected 2011 draft pick ranging in the low teens.

I don't really know, although I suspect it's true. And that makes me wonder why Randolph has never been mentioned as a potential trade asset to net Anthony.

I don't think Denver wants Randolph.  A lot of teams have soured on him; potential only gets you so many chances.

BTW, this is the Wolves' own 2011 pick, right?  Isn't it likely to be a top 5-8 pick, given their lousy record?  If so, another dumb move by Sota (if it goes through)

No, it's not their own. That pick is owed to the Clippers, although it is top-10 protected for this year.

The pick is either Utah's (top-16 protection), or Memphis' (top-14).

TP, thanks.  That makes it a bit more palatable for Minnesota, although I still don't know where they'll find time for Randolph.
Given that the Wolves are going to likely have a bottom record that pick is certainly going to roll over to next year. Then it has no protection, man is next season going to suck for Wolves fans. They'll still be bad, and will have no pick to show for it.

Beause Minnesta needs another PF who needs minutes to develop.

It makes perfect sense.

So far, they have stockpiled PGs and PFs.  Why not another?

It's like they are stealing my fantasy basketball strategy  ;D

Yep.

Meanwhile, how psyched are the Clippers? Add a potential lottery pick in 2012 to the core they now have.

If only they had a living, breathing, human being for an owner, instead of Donald Sterling.

BTW, don't pin that outgoing pick on Kahn.

That trade dates back to August of 2005. The Wolves got Marko Jaric and Lionel Chalmers for Sam Cassell and a 2006 1st rounder, whose top-10 protections finally expire in 2012.

You can, however, blame Kahn for the fact that Minnesota doesn't own its own 2nd rounder until 2015.

Wow, they're still paying for that Jaric debacle?  What an awful trade.  At least it probably got Adriana Lima into town once or twice.

Anthony Randolph has more potential than Kevin Love

That's like saying Gerald Green had more potential than Paul Pierce.  It's probably true in some abstract way, but the chances of realizing that potential are about 1 in 1,000.

Funniest thing is...what even started that combo-euro guard trend? It wasn't like there was some 6'6 white Lithuanian Magic Johnson-type to get people going. All of a sudden, there were like 3 or 4 useless under-productive European combo guards in the league that everyone was over paying.

I think it started with Sarunas Marciulionis (yes I looked the spelling up).  He was pretty successful in NellieBall, but so are a lot of unorthodox players.

Curry, Cahndler & Toney or Fields works straight up for Anthony & Filler (w/o Billups). Throw in the #1 pick and it could work for all involved. Otherwise I say Knicks should just sit it out and wait till Free Agency.

guess his value isn't low enough to temp the Knicks with our late first rounder. wonder if he's anything near worth what is sure to be a high pick.

I think Minny has draft picks other than its own to deal.

Oh come on now this is just ridiculous.

At this point I'll be mildly surprised if Anthony Randolph ever becomes a starter on a good team, let alone a 20 and 15 monster.

It has been reported, and is obvious, that the nuggets will not trade Anthony without receiving a first round pick in whatever deal they make. I think this would allow the Knicks to trade a combination of chandler, curry, galo, fields, azubuike (not all of them but some deal involving them) this first round pick, and there first round pick in 2013 (they do not have first round picks for 2011, 2012)

Oops I was mistaken. They do have a first round pick this year but the league prohibits trading first round picks two years in a row. They traded last years pick
