I just looked at Ray/Paul's season stats, they both should be in. Especially with Joe Johnson and Granger's sub par play.

Guards:
Rondo
Wade
Rose
Felton

Forwards:
LeBron
KG
Amar'e
Pierce
Boozer
Horford

Centers:
Howard
Noah

Is probably what I'd put it at, though I'm not in love with the idea that Felton would be an all-star. I can easily see Ray getting left out for Granger/Joe Johnson. Boozer/Noah could both miss due to injury but should make it. Josh Smith also should have a shot at sneaking in.

Ray Allen should easily make it over felton, especially with Rondo and Rose already making it .

Ray's stats =  17.5PPG, 3.3AST, 0.9STL, 50%FG, 44%3PT FG, 87%FT
Felton's stats =18ppg,  8.7ast, 1.8stl, 45%FG,3 4%3PT FG, 86%FT

Ray is putting up the best fg% and 3pt fg% of his career. I don't think there is any way he doesn't make it .

I think it's a safe bet that Shaq will be in it.
I don't. He plays so few minutes, I think Howard/Noah/Bogut/Horford would all be chose at C ahead of him.

Should and will are two different things. My prediction was to what the team would end up being. I think Felton's /Amar'es hype for turning New York into a .500 team willget them both nods to the all-star game.

Yup, they are all having much better seasons than Shaq.

Shaq didn't make the All-Star game last year either.... when he had similar numbers (12/6.7 vs 10/5.2) in similar minutes (23.4 vs 21.4) while playing for the Cavs who were a top team in the East (second best record in the East).

It's not about the stats. It's about what he brings to the team and how much of a threat he is thought of by the other coaches. Plus he is clearly second in total votes for Centers in the East, and I don't think coaches can totally neglect that.

Pretty sure Shaq finished second by a large margin in total votes last season too.

Yep, here we go

http://www.nba.com/2010/allstar/2010/01/21/allstar.starters.release/index.html

Shaq had 856,000 votes to finish in second spot while Bogut had 270,000 in third place.

I don't think the coaches pay any heed to how many votes a player gets. They just select the guy that they think is most deserving.

So if voting were to stand as it is today Paul being second behind LeBron....would that mean he would or wouldn't be in? Would he come off the bench? Or the bench is voted in by coaches?

I forget how it all works.

The all-star team is made up without differentiating between SF and PF. Both are just counted as forwards. So even though PP is the 2nd leading SF in votes, he's still fourth in voting for all forwards. Therefore as it currently stands, Lebron and KG will be the starters at forward whereas PP will have to be chosen to be on the bench by the coaches(which will likely happen).

Where is Blake Griffin?

In the Western Conference. ;)

He's way behind Durant and Carmelo (followed by Gasol) among forwards.
