I was reading that gem of an article by some pineapple express smoking blogger on San Antonio's blog and read this comment.

Not to mention the officiating. The Celtics should gripe about this one- we got every single 50/50 call and got away with defensive 3 seconds a lot.

I hope I didn’t just earn a “Tommy point”

Any Celtics fans complaining about the non-call on Ginobili's final shot?

That was a clean block. The refs did miss a travel by Marquis though late.
While I agree, it was still a crucial non-call

It's only a non call if a call could have been made.  There was absolutley no contact what so ever with anything but the ball.  If any official had called that a foul they wouldn't have gotten out of the building alive.

Most fans think the refs are against them.  What I don't like about NBA refs is that they seem to favor star players, keep games close at times and miss all kinds of calls.   I think its more they are blatantly incompetant than anything else.  Anyone who thinks they do a good job has to be a relative.  More bad, judgement calls than any other sport with bigger impact to the game.  NFL has replay, MBL  baseball umps are very good.

I think people hate us because we are the Celtics.  We won in 60's, 70's and 80's that created hate and that hate was passed down to kids who heard their dads cussing us.   Also, in the 80s we were despised at times for being a team of white guys, I know its not true but living outside NE I heard this about us.  Like it or not it was the case and general perception it wasn't true though I mean look at Chief and DJ.

The officials got very creative with their calls last night, especially in the fourth quarter, (which I'm watching again right now) ... they did everything they could to help the Spurs win this game, and it almost worked! My first reaction upon the Celtics' winning was, "Take that, refs!!" ... I was happier about beating the officials than I was about beating the Spurs!  :P

Because our team wins despite horrible officiating?

You mean like when they let Quis get away with the same move that was called a travel against Ridnour?

Seems like the refs like us better.

Donaghy is not alone, I don't care what anyone says! >:(  These refs are definitely gambling on games or someone just doesn't want the Celtics to win.

you know I really thought the same thing.  I thought it was oddly suspicious how when the game got to around a 10 point game at the end all of a sudden the whistles get swallowed on one end.
Like the refs made Ray Allen miss two free throws?

The refs made Nate Robinson dribble like an idiot in the backcourt for 7 seconds so that he had to throw a desperate pass before getting called for an 8 second violation?

There is basically the steal against Pierce that remains a question. Unfortunately, we didn't have the good camera angle. I will defer to the announcers since they could see the play better, even if I don't usually trust Tommy about anything. So the refs miss 1 call? Big deal.

The officiating being horrible is reasonable, although debatable.  They definitely blow calls every night, it's part of the game.  And basketball is so subjectively called that it's always easy to see how things could have been called in a more favorable way for your team.

The refs collectively being "out to get us" is silly and self-centered.  I guess not only are they all gambling on their own games but they're all betting against us every night for some reason.  Or David Stern just has a deep burning hatred for one of the league's flagship franchises in one of its wealthier markets.

Referee/league conspiracy theories are a simple, catch-all explanation for why officiating can be frustrating and uneven, but they're ridiculously contrived if you take even a moment to think about how they'd have to actually work.

I hope the NBA Officials realize what a great friend they have in you, GW ... whenever I post a comment that's even remotely negative in their direction, I can count on you to stick up for them, lol! Yes, some of us see things through green-tinted lenses, (and I'll admit I'm one of them), but there are a few people here who see the same world through black-and-white-tinted glasses as well.

It just amazes me how people can see NBA Officials as above all criticism and reproach ... they make mistakes and have biases just like everyone, and that's just the reality of them being human. Please don't take this as a personal attack, cuz I say this all tongue-in-cheek, and I get a kick out of the whole thing. ;)

Celtics are getting ****** by the officials every game now. They tried to make it up at the end, but too little to late the damage was done. 3rd FT barrage by the Bulls sailed the game. And it always happens when the Celtics go on a little run. Which leads me to believe they are managing the game rather officiating the game. Keep the game close & have an entertaining finish mindset. Thanks for nothing you bunch of crooks.

19 free throws by Rose vs 22 for the entire Celtic team?! Pierce only shoots 6?! He was driving to the hole just as hard as Rose most of that game and nothing. Hate to blame the refs, because we played poorly as well, but there is a trend going on here since Shaq ripped the officiating.

Point still remains. You claim the refs "did everything they could to help the Spurs win this game" yet the let Quis get away with the same move that Ridnour did. Yet we got the call both times.

There are plenty of valid complaints about particular calls for and against us that people can make. But the 'refs are against us' comments are worthy of mockery. Such comments are the result of certain fans seeing what they want to see and missing the things they don't want to see. Such as being blind to Daniels getting away with the same move that Ridnour couldn't get away with.

What is most hilarious is that every team has conspiracy theory fans who think their team is the one the league is out to get. There should be a special forum for them all to get together and argue which of their teams are truly getting the shaft.

It could not only be the refs, but the commentators too. Was it just me who noticed how one-sided they were? The whole game, they were bashing on the Cs'; calling out every mistake that they made and praising everything that the Bulls did.
