.871, tied with Pierce.

I'm not complaining because 87% is still excellent.  I just get baffled every time he misses, because I'm not used to it.

Just weird to see Ray miss so many free throws this year.  He's not automatic anymore at the line. :o

Would you rather have Ray "struggling" (really an overreaction here but can't find a better word) from the FT line or struggling from three like he did last year till February? My choice is made, personally. :P

I did say that I wasn't complaining.  I'm just stating a fact and wondering why.

For perspective, the difference between shooting 87% this season and 90% like last season is 3 FTs per 100.  Basically, Ray is missing one more FT for every 33 that he takes.

I don't think that's a significant difference.  In fact, had he hit those two FTs last night, he'd be at 89% right now, which is virtually identical to last season.  All things considered, I still want Ray at the line when the game is on the line.

No doubt about that.  It's especially weird any time he misses two in a row, and that's the second time I can remember that down the stretch.  However, overall I think this was just a quirk.

Momentum in sports is a funny thing.

The wheels were falling off the bus fast. Even a great free throw shooter, and indisputably clutch player, like Ray can fall under the spell of some negative juju from time to time.
Yup

You gotta wonder just how badly that ticks Ray off.  With his personality, I wonder how many free throws he'll shoot today (and maybe shot last night, lol).

It is the second time that has happened and the other one actually resulted in a loss I think (Detroit?). I am still comfortable with him at the line late but I think it is funny that our most clutch free throw shooter is probably Pierce. I cant remember the last time he missed a biggie. Early in his career he was VERY shaky in the clutch from the line but now it has completely reversed.

It just shows that after busting his butt to hold Manu down all game while shooting 13-16 (81+%)on FGs, fatigue was a factor.

Sure, it's rare to see him shoot 60% from the ft line, but heck, he ended up playing 39 minutes and outscoring Manu 31-24.

I think I remember it happening three times. I know in 07-08 he did it in Cleveland with only a little time left in a tie game. (The C's lost in OT)

I swear it happened at a big moment last season, but I can't remember the specifics.

Really a non issue because Ray is soooo prone to going on these 55 for 56 or 68 for 69 streaks at the line(I think he did one of each of those streaks last year) that in the end he'll probably be shooting 90%+ from the free throw line.

Just a quirk, nothing more.

Game 3 of the first round against Miami, Ray missed two huge free throws at the end, among other incredible bad/surprising plays from the C's that helped them lose the game.
