When everyone is healthy and he's cooking, one of these nights he's going to have a 30 assist game. Count on it.

Yeah, he's not that far off.  I think the one thing that may hold him back is our pace.  We have a fairly deliberate offense, which limits the number of possessions for Rondo to pick up assists on.  I believe our season high in FGAs is 86; in the game Skiles set the record, the Magic had 107 shots attempted.
Very true, but if I remember right that team wasn't the best shooting team around though, not like this group of Celtics. There have been some nights this year where the starters have shot 70% for the game. I great passing night and the team hitting at a great percentage could allow him to come close even though the pace isn't there.

Good point though.

The shocking thing is that he was only 4 steals away from this thread being labeled "Rondo's Quad-Dub."

Awesome night by him! Looking forward to 10 more years of Rondo in Green.

Saw the caught rebound when time expired by Rondo and didn't know if he was going to get credit for a rebound or not considering I wasn't entirely sure when he caught the ball. Went to bed after that and was glad to see they did give him the credit for the rebound.

Sidebar:  there was a play earlier in the game where Shaq caught an airball that Big Baby had heaved up to beat the 24 second clock.  To the naked eye, I could not discern if Shaq caught it before or after the buzzer. I was wondering if, in a scenario like that, there is a question about the timing, if the official scorer would go back and check.  Either way it was a 24 second violation, so it had no effect from the ref's perspective.  I've heard there's an awful lot of gray area with the stats.  Wondering if that's a situation where they would just give Shaq a rebound for the heck of it.

Sure seems that way, particularly with assists.  Not sure which one it was (15th I think) where Rondo passed to baby at the free throw line, baby paused, contemplated driving to the hoop but then pulled and hit the jumper.  I didn't think that would count as an assist since a few seconds had passed between the pass and the shot but then Gorman said Rondo just got his 15th(?) assist.  I always thought the pass had to lead immediately to a basket to be recorded as an assist.

And please no one read this the wrong way.  That was a great performance by Rondo.

Yes that makes it a bit tough.  I think the 30 assist night WILL happen.  Might be after the Big Three era when we build a faster paced team to play to Rondo's strengths though.

I would seriously doubt it. I think you underrate how many assists Rondo gets by just standing and waiting for Ray Allen to get through a pick

I don't underrate that at all.  Last night he benefitted off assists to jump shots a lot and a lot of that was to Ray. I just think when a guy manages 20+ assists on a slow paced team and it seems like the team will probably be faster paced in the future, he will hit 30 assists one game.  Not saying it's a regular occurance obviously but he will manage it.

What an incredible game for him. I could easily see him getting a 30 assist game at some point this season. Especially is Allen is hitting the way he did last night. Just watching him is such a pleasure.

We shot 61% last night which is a big factor into Rondo getting 22 assists.

If he does it I think this year is the best chance he will have.

Or, to rephrase, Rondo's 22 assists was a big factor in our shooting 61%.

Very sweet night for the little guy! Man, I'm glad we signed him when we did ... can you imagine if we were trying to sign him now for the same amount we did last spring?!? We got a bargain for sure ... love Rajon, and I'm glad his future has a lot of green in it. ;)

Exactly.  I mean guys knocked down their shots but Ray shot so well in part because he was getting hit with incredible passes coming off those screens.  And players were getting led to the rim for easy baskets by great passes.

Hell, a couple guys even missed easy finishes that Rondo set them up for.  Shaq had one that was completely bone headed.

The NBA likes nothing more than handing impressive achievements to players ... if it is anyway debatable, the player will always get the assist or rebound that he needed to get him over the hump.

I don't know about that.  Wasn't there a game that LeBron played at MSG last year (or the year before) that the box score at the end of the game showed a triple double with 10 rebounds, but then the official score ended up taking a rebound away?  I mean, if there is ANY player that the league would want to pad stats for, it would be LeBron, right?

Good point, I remember the exact situation. They took the rebound away from LeBron and gave it to one of his teamates and he ended with 9 rebounds instead.  Was it on his 50 point game too?

Yea I think it was the 52 point game against the Knicks, I think they gave his last rebound to Ben Wallace.
