According to RealGM http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/70943/20110104/warriors_waive_rodney_carney/, the Warriors let Carney go.

While logic would ask why would a team as deep as ours be interested in a castoff from a non-playoff team. Things aren't always as clear-cut as they seem.

First, we all know that Don Nelson's doghouse comes in all shapes and sizes and banishment to that doghouse can be for a variety of reasons, sometimes personal and arbitrary in nature. Also, Carney doesn't seem to fit the run and gun of Nelson.

Second, he fills a need for us as a defensive-minded 2/3 which we need.

Do we give him a look, and if so, what roster manipulations could be done?

I don't think Nelson is the coach any more...

I'd give him a look, always kinda liked him....probably not going to happen since the front office seems to be growing in its affection for Wafer and he'd probably be the guy who'd have to get released...

Carney stinks.  Athletic, but not good.

He kinda reminds me of Ron Mercer. He did have a few nice games with Golden State this season, but it would be hard to cut someone from our current roster just to accommodate him. Wafer has earned his slot based on his last few games.

I'd prefer him on the roster to Gody, but Danny could have signed him in the offseason if he wanted him.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Better than Wafer, not sure why Danny did not scope him up when they could.

Absolutely not.

The guy just got cut from the Warriors.  That's a little like getting cut by an nbdl team

Nope.  There's a reason he's bounced around a bunch of different teams and hasn't really produced very much for any of them.

He'd provide more than Daniels is providing right now...

So would any other warm body.

There's a significant list of players I'd consider before Rodney Carney.

A player like that, who has never had to play on a team that wins, or even one that values defense, would likely not carve out a spot in our rotation anyway.

So would I and I'm a 45 year old six foot tall guy that can't jump, so that's not saying much.
