BBD is about a 40% jump shooter, maybe a little less.  Even when he's wide open, I've got to think that there are higher percentage shots than a 15-to-18 footer.

If BBD actually passed a bit, it would make the offense a lot more versatile.  If he feels the unquenchable need to lead the team in shot attempts, he should at least take higher percentage shots down low when guarded by Bonner (like he did a few minutes ago).

Basically, just because you're open doesn't mean you need to shoot.  BBD misses that shot about 60% of the time.

That doesn't change the fact that he's the one they're leaving open.  He does pass, but a lot of times when he gets the ball back, it's at a point where he has to shoot it or create a 3 second violation or pass it to someone with only seconds left, then you'd be screaming at him because he didn't take the shot.

But leaving him open doesn't change his jump shot %.. which is lower than what the celtics shoot as a team for the season.  Therefore, regardless of outcome, it should statistically make sense for Davis to pass and go set a pick or something.  He needs to help create ball movement.

If he's getting wide open jumpers then he should at least take the ball to the hoop.. not just take what's given to him.  Get more!

Exactly.  A jumper by a wide-open BBD is still statistically less efficient than moving the ball and getting a shot for one of our other starters.

I understood Kevin McHale being a black hole and a ball stopper.  I don't get that with BBD.  He's a capable passer (8 assists the other night) but he refuses to do it (2 or fewer assists in 31 of 33 games this season, and 1 or fewer assists in 22 of those games).
Davis needs to post up more often, especially if they keep playing Bonner.

I wish he would post up more...! I like him on the post..! A good post game is fascinating to me, i watch old mchale video now and then, he was so good there...!

See, another shot from Baby with the clock winding down!

14 dimes for Rondo already?  Does he hit 20 tonight?
.

Triple-double too if he can score enough.

I don't like slow-motion basketball, but sometimes it is effective.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Duncan has been pretty much a non-factor in this one so far.
Without KG, even. If Garnett was playing, this game probably wouldn't be close!
