Just wondering what the opinion is out there concerning keeping everyones minutes down and giving the bench guys some extra minutes to keep the starters rested and healthy for the post season and risk losing home court advantage.  I think if we are healthy and the older guys are not worn down to much from the regular season w can beat anyone in a seven game series even without home court advantage.

Health should always come first for this team IMO. We showed that we can manage without home court advantage.
The Immortals:

Iker Casillas, Giacinto Facchetti, Alessandro Nesta, Matthias Sammer, Javier Zanetti, Lothar Matthäus (c), Xavi, Zico, Maradona, Roberto Baggio, Ferenc Puskas, Karl Heinz Rummenigge

Coach:Rinus Michels

I still want home court over LA in the playoffs. We can still beat miami without homecourt because we have major advantages with our big men and Rondo.

The Lakers and C's are very evenly matched, Rondo has a pretty big advantage over LA's pg's,  but fisher is still very clutch. I still think the c's could win a game 7 in LA if it came down to it, but would much rather have game 7 in Boston

Agreed. HCA is a bonus over Orlando and Miami but it would be a huge advantage over L.A in my opinion.

Obviously health is our priority but it sucks to see our advance in the standings fall little by little because we keep losing key players one after another.

Also, I must admit I'm kind of concerned of not having HCA over Miami, not because of their talent because I know we can and will win on their homecourt should we meet but because of the ridiculous treatment they will probably benefit from the refs on their homecourt...

The Celtics can beat any team on the road when healthy.  They proved that last year.

It wasn't until they lost one of their starters and size that LA gained a large advantage.  That's why the Celtics added two more large pieces of size.

  • You say when......
A healthy team is way more valuable, besides, if you win a few in the series early, you get home court advantage anyway...! Win the first one or two there....!

I agree on both points. If the C's have HCA over LA I could see them winning the series in 6 games. Miami having homecourt advantage is not something I'm too fond of. As many know by now the league refs are jeckel and hyde in the playoffs. I could see the heat winning 3 games with Wade and LeBron living at the line. Wade did get a ring with the help of the refs once before. So there you are, game 7 on the road with the two best players on the floor being on the other team. That's not exactly an ideal situation to be in.

Health is obviously the most important thing but there is no reason to just hand over games. Play hard with or without injuries and we'll be in the mix for HCA all season.

No they didn't; they lost TWICE in LA with a chance to close out the series.  We were getting blown out already before Perk went down in Game 6.

I guess what I should say is yes they can beat any team on the road in a 7 game series, but it's MUCH more difficult than with home court.  LAL MIA ORL DAL SA, all of these teams will be tough at home.  I don't have the exact stat in front of me, but over the past 15-20 years the team with home court in the Finals has won an overwhelming percentage of the series.

Health.

In a seven game series the better team almost always wins.

If you can't win on the road you probably aren't championship material.

As I said in the rest of the post (that you cut out)

When Perk went out, it was a 6 point game in the 1st.  (12-18)

Hardly a blowout at that point.

Why is it either or? You always play to win every game. The objective remains the same whether KG is playing or Gody is playing.

it depends on the trade-off

would I sign-up for homecourt in exchange for PP, RA and KG averaging an extra 5-6 minutes per game.........No probably not
