Le-NBA-TV'S TEN BEST OF 2010 (Paul Pierce made the list at #7)

I sat through (most of) NBA TV's "The year's 10 "best" highlights", with a few noteable clips - starting with Sundiata Gaines' game-winning three at the buzzer to help the Jazz beat the Cavs, followed by the Allstar game in Dallas' 108K attendance record (where they took the opportunity to document the heat's trio's game stats - I should have seen the writing on the wall at that point), then a montage of dunks by Blake Griffin, followed by (surprise) Paul Pierce's game winning shot against the Knicks (complete with Nate's dangerously hyper over the top celebration).  

I switch away for awhile, then back near the end of the show just in time for the last commercial break lead-in, as Rick Kamla was saying something like "What will be the #1 best NBA moment of 2010?

Will it be LeBron's decision, or the Kobe and the LA Lakers winning back-to back titles"?

I sat through the usual bad commercials NBA TV is known for (weight loss product with bikini clad models, Montel Williams with his 3 diamond earrings hawking high-interest signature loans, etc) while thinking , "they can't possibly term LeBJ's "decision" BS as "better" than the Lakers' winning a B2B title - can they"?

Well, incredibly, they did just that - the Lakers' title defense came in at #2, while a silly combo of the pink-shirt-clad LeBJ saying the now immortal "Taking my talents to South Beach" line and the 1st Heat blowout win in Cleveland Dec 2nd was ridiculously termed "#1 best moment of 2010"...

I thought it was only ESPN trying to sell this crap. Unreal to see NBA TV similarly exaggerate the "importance" of this "historic event" in NBA history as well...

I agree that the decision should be no where near a best top 10 list for NBA moments, but you cant discount that the decision really was a historical event.

historical events dont have to be positive events.  While it was completely selfish, vain, and arrogant of Lebron to hold the decision, it was the media and all the other people in the country that really ate this whole idea up.  I mean, CNN covered the thing for crying out loud.  The NBA, the media, and most of the country got together for an hour to collectively stroke the ego of a guy who (in my own opinion) arguably represents everything thats wrong in professional sports today.  The best way to put it was reaching a new historic low if you ask me.

I agree Greg - if it had been termed "10 best/worst", or "most newsworthy", I could have agreed.

But that Heat @ Cavs game stunk, as far as "best moments" go...
