How about if instead of signing out of shape stop-gaps we use this time to develop our 2nd and 3rd string players to get them the experience and confidence necessary to step in come playoff time when it actually may matter?! The season, as shown from last years run, means nothing. We need to have Rondo, KG, Delonte, Semih, JO, Shaq, or anyone else that is injured (man that was a long list!) get themselves completely healthy for the playoffs. If we do, we can't be beat with this squad.

Just imagine the possibilities, nate on one side bricking 3's and sheed doing the same on the other.

Haha TP!

Sheed has always had a chance to comeback. I have to think that it won't matter as far as our title aspirations without KG, but two months from February, anything can happen as far as Sheed coming back.

"Never say never" I guess are my thoughts in a nutshell.

Why don't we sign Raef Lafrentz too

Not likely, but $10 says Ainge tries to sign Troy Murphy this offseason (if there is one).

Unless Rasheed is in better shape than when he ended the playoffs last year, this is just a very poor idea.

I thought that once a player signed retirement papers(which Sheed had to do to wipe out his salary from our books) they had to sit out a complete season before asking for reinstatement, making it impossible for him to return this season...

I don't think he's officially retired.

But i also think KG will be back and fine.

Yeah, I believe he agreed to a buyout of his contract, so that he wouldn't have to officially retire.  That frees him up to sign with any team at any time, I believe.

With Shaq and JO so inconsistent in the health department and Perk a big ?, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Sheed signed a la PJ Brown/Sam Cassell in 2008.  Doc isn't going to trust Semih on the court in a playoff game.

At this point, I'd rather cut/trade Gody than Wafer to make it happen though.  We have 3 guys who are completely unsuitable for playoff minutes in Bradley, Erden and Gody.  Gody is lowest on the totem pole thus far.

My vote is to get Sheed.

Hopefully nothing serious - just want everyone 100% before the playoffs.

Found this article about a possible Sheed return that was posted before the KG injury:

I think we got the last drop of what Sheed had to offer in the playoffs last year.  He's not a good fit for this team.  Thanks for showing up in the playoffs, but no thanks to a return.  I like this team as currently constituted.  Just be healthy in the Spring.
Yup

I agree. Really surprised to see the amount of people who want to sign Sheed out of his hiatus.

Unless he's been working out non-stop in secrecy (fairly unlikely I think) then he is not going to be properly game conditioned this year. Also, didn't he have back issued?

Can't see this working out. Persevere with JO/Semih instead I think.

Wouldn't you rather have Sheed on the floor than Semih?  Semih is just as bad a rebounder, a far worse defender and far more turnover prone.

Why don't we sign Sam Cassell, PJ Brown, Raef Lafrentz too, bring em all back!

I know Rasheed isn't the same player as 5 years ago, but what other free agent big men are out there that are better than Sheed?

The answer is no one. The Bulls, Heat and Atlanta would all add Sheed to their rosters if he wanted to go there .
Keith Van Horn. Christian Laettner. Billy Curley. Bozo the Clown. The corpse of Fred Rogers. Kermit the Frog. Margaret Thatcher. Barak Obama. That guy who was in the movie The Air up There with Kevin Bacon.  Me

Sheed's jumper is much better than yours, and you have no post moves.  Don't kid yourself!  Kermit has a torn ACL, and Nate Robinson took Bozo's shoes.

Sheed would be a welcome addition, 6 fouls and an ability to play the post.  If you don't like it, we'll soon be seeing Antoine Walker threads....
