Terrible PR move. This could turnoff potential FA from coming to Boston, if thats how they going to be treated.

I don't think anyone can argue, with the play of Shaq, and Perk's injury progressing very well.. that trading JO would be a good move. I don't think potential FA's would see that as a negative thing and not sign with us.

JO has underpreformed, been injured and we clearly don't need him with our other 3 bigs are healthy.  All of them are better then he is.
not to inject some logic here but since when have any players seen another player's underperformance as not living up to that player's contract?

Expecting other potential FA's to look at Boston after a JO deal and be ok with the concept of JO not living up to his contract (due to injury) and thus being trade fodder just isn't in line with how players and agents look at it.  They could all see themselves in that same position as JO and be hesitant to sign here thinking they could just get shipped right out of town after they had the opportunity to choose where they play.

Eh, this is business as usual in the NBA.  Unless Danny made some promise to the agent and broke it, I don't see this having any negative affect on their future ability to sign players. Danny has always been great with agents, and the players all speak very highly of the organization.  He has accomodated players through trades and sign and trades to get them more money than they would have otherwise.  Trading away a guy who was underperforming is not going to hurt the good will that has been built up over the years.

We are stuck with JO (unfortunately). Houston wouldn't want JO.

Honestly, JO's been injured. If that's all it took for him to be traded, I don't know if I'd want to play for the C's, either.

I don't know if I'd even call it a "PR" move. But people questioning his heart or hustle based off THAT is horrendous when you consider Doc doesn't want players playing hurt this early in the season. He sat down JO, he sat down Rondo, what's the big deal? If JO comes back AND THEN SUCKS, then we can rile on JO. But until then, at least let the man play.

Something that I found ridiculous was a couple weeks ago when JO said the he decided he was going to strengthen the knee so it wouldn't be so much of a problem.  Couldn't he have "decided" this last year or in the offseason?

And at the open practice JO was just sitting there while Perk was working up a major sweat on a stationary bike.  Something tells me that JO doesn't do all he can do to take care of his body.

And I love how everyone throws out Battier like the Rockets have him on the block.  I get why you would want him but he is not so easily available.

I am no Rockets insider, but why would Battier not be available?  He's on the last year of his contract, making over $7M, their team is.... holy crap, they are 15-15.  How the hell are they 15-15?  Haha.  Man, I can see why he wouldn't be available.

But even still... they have tons of depth in young players T-Will and Budinger and also Jeffries who all play the 3.  I think they should trade Battier, but wait til the deadline and get something good for him.  I don't think they want to take on extra years of dead $ though, take a look at what they have locked up next season:

PG: Brooks, Lowry, Ish Smith
SG: Kevin Martin, Courtney Lee
SF: T-Will, Budinger
PF: Scola, Hayes, Patterson
C:  Brad Miller, Hayes, Jordan Hill

all locked up for... $36 million!!

They could possibly have $20 mil to improve this roster with.  How much will teams be willing to give Yao this offseason?  If Houston could lock him up at $6, then have $14 to spend on a SF... would that roster entice 'Melo?  If not Yao, could they be interested in overpaying for Marc Gasol?  Caron Butler, Jamal Crawford, and Jason Richardson could all be possible signings as well.  I wouldn't limit them to a signing though since they have tons of pieces that are trade assets.  Maybe even a sign and trade for Gasol?  He'd be a great fit for this cast in place.
