Source : multiple NBA writers twitters.

Is it a nice way to say that he is fired or did he decide to walk out on his own?

Anyway it's probably the first or many departures, who's next? Jackson? Wallace?

Yikes, I'm surprised by this. I really shouldn't be though I am. Maybe Tyrus Thomas will get minutes again, or maybe the Bobcats are finally going to blow up this mediocre collection of players.

I don't think Michael Jordan would have fired Larry Brown.

I would expect MJ to trade his players and try to rebuild with Larry at the helm before jettisoning such an accomplished Head Coach.

You're right, you really shouldn't be.  I am frankly surprised it took this long.  Brown always gets out of these places quickly, and the Cats are falling as fast as I have ever seen.

Tyrus Thomas should be starting at the four with Boris Diaw at center.

It's unbelievable how little Ty Thomas has been playing. He's only the third best player on the team.

I guess I figured he'd argue his way into a bad trade first before quitting around the all-star break. As badly as they are cratering right now they can still easily make the playoffs in the East.

Official press release : http://www.nba.com/bobcats/release_brown_101222.html

It looks like it really was a mutual decision.

Brown is 70, so I can imagine him not wanting to spend another 2 or 3 years of losing while the Cats rebuild.

I'd love to grab Gerald Wallace away from Charlotte, but any such deal would probably have to include at least 2 out of Perk, Nate and Baby.  That would leave Boston very strong at the wing but either very delicate inside or with no one to back up Rondo.

I was kind of surprised to see him even start the season given the mess he was dealt there. No big surprise here.

Time to blow this up and make it successful fast or move this franchise. They have the second lowest tickets in the league and still have trouble pulling in 80% of capacity. Only continued success will keep this franchise afloat because MJs investors will run like crazy if they don't turn things around quick.

I was surprised Brown came back myself. When the Bobcats shed Tyson Chandler's salary in the deal with Dallas, it was clear this season's focus wouldn't be on a return to the playoffs.

I'd also agree with Who that the Thomas/Wallace/Diaw frontcourt always struck me as the clear choice.

Brown should take over for Jordan who should go back to gambling & golf, move the team to Seattle and rebuild.

They better not move them after the city built an arena after the people in the town voted for them not to.

I'm not shocked that he left. He's known for running. He's done it many times and everyone in Charlotte knew he'd run sometime.

And what did MJ think would happen? You lose people on a team that just made the playoffs the year before and then not replace them as the rest of the east got better. What in the world did he think would happen?

I wish the NBA had given the team to Bird.

Larry is a great coach, and was NOT the problem with the Charlotte organization. Shame.

TP.. Great coach, but lack of chemistry and talent. Noway DJ Augistine could replace Felton. And no clue why Gerald Wallace thinks he's a 3 point specialist this year either. The team needs a real PG, and a couple of serious bench players to make noise.

I read a trade rumor of Jordan wanting to get Baron Davis. How bout
