I think getting Melo will be very good for the franchise. The Celts relevance in the league will continue for the next 5 - 8 years and will similarly be treated as such even on global scale.

Melo for Perk, JO, Nate and BBD.

Denver will get young, skillful and experienced players in BBD, Nate and Perk. BBD and Nate will definitely fill in the scoring sheet while Perk will be a stabilizer in the middle side by side with Nene who can slide at PF. A shot-blocking duo will then be formed between them while Nate can ably fill in as SG/PG and BBD will be assigned as either a PF or SF. As for JO, they can keep or waive or even trade to Indy for whatever they might need.

Boston will offer Melo a shelter for a perennially title-contending team. I think that is what he is looking for right now. Going to NJ will only be a rebuilding venture and I believe even in NY. With Melo, Boston will not have to worry about a PP/Ray getting tired guarding talented young guys like Lebron, Wade and KD. We can fill the roster by getting probably Earl Barron, Stackhouse/Toine and Gallon. We may even offer some picks - our 2011 1st for their 2011 2nd rounder and our 2012 2nd round pick. Melo will most likely sign an extension with us since he'll really fulfill his dream of playing in a championship caliber team.

Thoughts?

So, we should forget about competing for a championship this year?  I don't think we win a championship with Semih as our only backup big. You severely underrate how important Baby and Perk are to this team.  Besides that package is not enough to get it done anyway.

No -- only way to get Melo is to put Rajon Rondo on the table.

I thought this had something to do with a rumor i heard on NBATV last night about Mark Cuban going hard after Melo.

Uhm... no.

Shaq, KG, PP, Ray, Rondo, Melo, DWest, Quisy and Semih which we can also include Barron (if we get him ahead of the others) is a championship caliber team to me. Melo is the next "biggest" player out there after Miami plucked out Lebron and Bosh from their respective teams. We are still winning even with just Semih out there. BBD and Nate's production can be matched by Melo and even gives us more offensive options. Losing Perk in this proposed trade is actually difficult because that can give Denver a presence in the middle. We try to compensate the loss in size by signing bigs like Barron and Gallon and possibly other FA bigs.

How does that compare to Favor, two draft picks and cap space?

And if Shaq gets hurt, again, then what?  And remember Shaq can't play that many minutes anyway.

Favors could be the big difference that may sway Denver to pull the trigger in NJ's favor but he only offers a PF position to be effective. Perk is a proven big while BBD has already shown efficiency at the PF. We may also offer picks. Lastly, the trade works under realgm Trade ID #5779617. Melo going to NJ is so iffy since he wont get a title-contending team even if some of his teammates like Harrington goes with him there. Melo staying with us is highly likely to happen because he stays in the limelight and gives us a better peak for our future.

Favors is a potential star.

The Celtics are offering one starter and two good reserves.

The Celtics, simply put, are in love with the current construction of their team and are not in the market to be ripping it into pieces to take on spoiled, defensively challenged superstars.

I can fully understand the thought of not breaking apart this current contender of a team.  That makes sense.

However, to think that somehow BBD+Marquis+Perk+Nate+Draft Pick is too much to give up for Carmelo is crazy to me.  For starters, Denver wouldn't and shouldn't accept that from the Celtics.  Nate is suddenly that good?  BBD is suddenly a very efficient player?  Let's not forget that Pierce wasn't known for his defense at all until the team focused more on it, so I have no doubt Anthony could.

If I were Denver I'd laugh if the Celtics called with something other than Rondo.  And personally, I wouldn't trade Rondo+others for Anthony now or if we weren't contending.

True. However, Denver will lose Melo after the season. They have to look for somebody who can fill in the void. They are in a  dilemma on how to go about moving Melo since he threatens them and the team who'll acquire him of not signing any extension if he dislikes the team that gets him. NJ has no problem moving any of their players except Brook Lopez but if that team remains competitive once Melo steps in is what concerns Melo. He wants a top team, a really title-contending team.
Dallas is dangling a Tyson Chandler + Caron + DeShawn for Melo. In doing so, Dallas becomes "weaker" even if Melo gets there.

I believe Melo wants to win first. His choices? Orlando, Chicago, Atlanta and Boston for the East. For the West, LAL (I wish this does not happen)is his best option.

There really isn't many trades we can make.... we are so good right now almost any trade makes us worse.
