With Robin Lopez back from injury and Marcin Gortat acquired via trade, Phoenix has released Earl Barron.

I know he received some interest on this board as someone the Celtics should consider signing during the past off-season.  I don't think he has done anything this season to warrant wishing Ainge had signed him rather than bringing in Semih Erden.  I wonder how much interest Barron will get.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
No thanks.

He was the "next best option" out there before Shaq said yes. Besides, Semih seems to be holding his own so I'd rather have Erden. He has some upside too (even maybe a little), so I think it's safe to say we can pass on Earl Barron now. We don't need him anymore. Get a SF.

I'd rather have Semih.  He still has good potential.  Moves well, in a Gasol-esque way, and once he bulks up he could be a real solid big guy.

What other teams would want Barron?  Would he be an improvement over the Heat's worst center?  Was Orlando completely disinterested in receiving him back as filler when they traded away Gortat?  Is he a suspect player who will get passed on even by teams with a huge need for bench bigs?

Celtics don't need him. Perk will hopefully be back next month, as well as JO, plus Shaq is somewhat healthy (I use this loosely). Not to mention Semih is doin' alright. I think they'll be fine with the big guys they've got right now.
