The injury bug is this year's distraction.

Last year, it was Operation Fo' Fo' Fo'

http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=36355.0

It's obvious to both Doc and Danny that this team will win the championship, regardless of what happens during the regular season.

Thus, it's important to dissuade other teams from trying to overpower our troops, by forcing 'em to play at their best, night after night.

So I think it goes like this ...

Doc: "Shaq, how do you feel?"

Shaq responds, "A bit tired"

Doc answers, "Take the night off"

Then when Doc's in front of the camera, "Well, Shaq's got a nagging leg problem. We'll watch and see"

And so forth. This is a well disguised ploy to boost the morale of opponents, without needing to engage them head on.

Come playoff time, Orlando, Miami, and others will be calling the C's injury prone, old, etc, but then BAM! each playoff series is over before it even begins.

How optimistic.

I think the guys really are old, injury-prone, and tired. Great players, but old, injury-prone, and tired.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

true enough. but even with 5 of the top 10 players missing games due to injury, this team is looking at least as good as any other team in the nba.

if, and it's not a big if, this team has everyone playing come the play offs i dont see anyone else with as much depth. to be able to run out a second team of OJ/perk, big baby, marquis, west, and nate is amazing.

Shaq’s problems are all injuries that he’d be playing through we were in the playoffs. There’s just no reason to waste him for crap games against the Atlanta Hawks.

What indications do you have that they are faking anything? You are just making things up at this point.

They are certainly being cautious with their big men injuries, but they aren't faking anything to "pysch out" the opposition. They want home court this year, especially after losing game 7 in LA.

Doc is not running Shaq too many minutes.  Shaq seems happy and seems to be having fun. He has fit seamlessly into the Celtics team philosophy.   A happy Shaq is an effective Shaq.  Go Celts....I can taste #18!!!!

Doc and Shaq have integrated him better than I thought possible.

Ok, it looks as if the Injury Deception is in play.

At least one of the O'Neals is healthy and is using his free time to hit the weights and treadmill.

D West also most likely has just a sore hand and is using a flexor training tool, http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/aa/forearm.html

In the other post the great Master Po said the following:

Quote
How can a sprained ankle keep DW out this long? I am beginning to think Doc has Shaq, JO, Delonte all locked up in a freezer somewhere…..and will thaw them out in late April….

And that's exactly it. The story of this season has been the injury deception. This is a variant on Fo'Fo'Fo' but the result is the same ... the utter destruction of our opponents during the playoffs.

It does look like Baby's been assigned to the Shaq weight-loss plan.
