I love how you say Shaq won't make it, yet believe guys like Boozer, Joe Johnson and Noah can.

Isn't Joe Johnson going to miss like 6 weeks? Noah 10? Boozer already missed like 6 himself.

Boozer has a legitimate chance. The Bulls are playing well and he's 100% healthy. From now until the ASG Shaq is going to miss a lot more time than him, barring another completely unexpected injury.

Joe Johnson has a very good chance in the East considering the guards are the weakest they've been in years. Again, he'll be 100% well before the ASG.

Noah will probably miss about the same number of games as Shaq between now and then, if not less. He definitely has a good chance.

Judging by these results, the C's starting 5 are all going to be all-stars this year. KG/Rondo the starters, Allen/Pierce/Shaq as the reserves.

Woot!
The vote totals do not determine the reserves in any way though.

Yea, but what SG in the east would replace Ray as a reserve? I cant see any.

Same goes for pierce, they would be the best reserves at their positions in the east.
I can see it happening but its certainly not a lock. The all star team has what 4 guards usually? Rose, Rondo, and Wade are locks.

After that Joe Johnson, Devin Harris, and Raymond Felton will all push Ray for a slot.

Fs will be LeBron, KG, Amar'e all for sure. I think Pierce is comfortably in after that, with Boozer, and Josh Smith also being considered.

Shaq won't make it, he's missing too many games and playing too few minutes. It will be Howard, Horford, Bogut, and/or Noah before him.

Joe Johnson has played like garbage all year, and is slated to miss the next 5 or so weeks, he isnt making the team. Devin Harris? He isnt better then Ray Allen and he also isnt making the team. Felton I can see making it but not before Allen, there would have to be some sort of injury if Felton was going to make the team.

Joe Johnson won't make it. He's played in 18 games this year. Hasn't played since November. Even when he played, was having a below average year from him. Ray doesn't have to worry about JJ.

I think youre right about Shaq. He had a chance for a while, but I think he's missed too many games at this point.

As for why would the players ever go instead of resting? Well a lot of players really enjoy the game/weekend. They get to hang out with all the other all stars and have some fun. I will never criticize one of our players for wanting to go play in the game. Good news is that the game is in LA this year. KG has a home in Malibu. Pierce has a home in LA. They can go to the game, but also be at their home and rest up.

Noah is out until AFTER the all-star break so hes definately not making the team. Boozer wont make it over pierce either.

It is cutting it closer than I realized, I'll agree with you there then he probably won't make it.

I still think Boozer has a chance though. If the Bulls keep winning and he puts up big numbers (which he can in Noah's absence) the coaches will consider him. I'm not saying he's going to make it over Pierce and I don't think he will, but the possibility is there.

Yea I didn't realize how long Noah will be out for, I take that back.

I still stand by Johnson and Boozer having a chance though.

I have had the same stand every year I have been on this blog...I hope none of them make the All-Star game and that all the Celtics take the time during the break to rest up, heel themselves and take it easy in preparation for the second half of the season. Why risk a possible injury in a league sponsored exhibition that means nothing?
They are as likely to get hurt in practice Nick, I don't see why you worry about it.
Why do I worry? Two words....Robert Edwards.

They get hurt at practice they are getting hurt trying to get better for their team doing their job. They get hurt at the ASG they are getting hurt needlessly doing something that could have been avoided. You can't avoid practice. This...you can.
Allen Iverson disagrees that you can't avoid practice.

Players can blow out their knee in the shower, fixating on a risk of one exhibition when they play tons of pick up, work out, and play a ton of real games seems silly.
That's okay Faf, I think you say and think a lot of silly things too.

What caught my eye was the West Centers.  Yao Ming and Bynum have played, what, 5 games combined and they are the leaders?

Other than that though, the fan vote isn't far off from where I would put players.  Rose and Rondo are close but I think Rose may win out in a close race and probably deserves to.  Reserve all star for Rondo is still pretty good.  I also think Deron Williams deserves to start but certainly at a minimum should be the reserve  There are a bunch of good PG in the west right now.
