Struggling offensively, maybe, but still contributing in big ways with his defense, leadership, and just the threat that he poses while on the floor. It doesn't matter how long a shooting slump he's in, as with any player of his caliber, no team is going to take the chance of backing off him, and therefor he loosens up the offense for others to move and score.

Pretty sure the announcers were talking about how he was suffering from flu-like symptoms this week.

I think too he has logged some minutes with the second unit in the Philly game.  PP plays hurt too could be nagged by a minor injury and gutting it out.  As long as he is playing D, I can live with it.  It would be hard to pick who you want to shoot a shot with your life depending on it, RA and PP on this team come to mind.

He had been shooting above 50%, its not surprising he's coming back down to earth somewhat. Combine that with the flu, and you get two poor shooting nights.

Man its too bad our captain is struggling... You neglect to take about his flu - like symptoms, his 3 blocks, deflections on 2 and 3 on 1 fast breaks, his leadership...and oh yeah, a ten game win streak. Struggling indeed.  ::)

  • It's all about the TEAM!
He'll be fine. I remember Ray Allen slumping in the Finals. It was bad timing, but he's back to being Ray again. Pierce will be fine. Hate to see worried posts when it's only been a very small period of time. If he's still slumping in April, I'd start to get concerned.

Give Captain a break, sick with the flu. He will be well rested and ready for a big game against the suddenly respectable Knicks Wednesday.

I was at the game. He didn't shoot that well but he did all those other little things. He's fine.

Paul started the season blazing.

Right now he's sick and his stats are just reverting back toward the middle.

I just gave out 11 Tommy points.  Glad to see that the responses have been unanimous.  No need to worry about our captain having a tough week with the flu and his shooting.  Of course, he's still helping to lead our team through this winning streak.

These three days of rest are really needed for our team.

6 for 14 (43%) isn't too bad, so therefore we're talking about two below-par shooting games.  Poor games and mini-slumps happen, and it's expected that some of these games will happen to even out Pierce's otherwise torrid shooting.
