I simply cannot understand why anone would wish Brian Scalabrine back on this team. The guy can't get playing time in Chicago. He has NOTHING left other than being a great cheerleader.

^Won't Shaq be back Wednesday though?  Shaq has a bad knee, but I thought they were just resting him, not that he's out for a significant period of time.
Yeah... but I'm assuming the OP was taking note of the current situation. Once Shaq is back there is even less argument for Scal tactically, I think OP is assuming Shaq/Perk/JO are all going to miss time all season.

If you owned the Celtics, would you want to pay an extra $2million or so just to have Scally instead of Luke?  Personally I wouldn't.

I think you can find another towel waver for a lot less.

Good towel waivers are harder to find than people think. I still don't think we've found a suitable replacement for ML Carr since he left.

I'll take Luke and Wafer over Veal any day.

Luke hustles as well as Veal ever did but with better results on boards and offense.  He may be learning the D which Veal knows pretty well but Luke's provides more on the court.

Wafer provides extra coverage while Delonte is out and Veal doesn't offer that. period.

Let Tom T keep him in Chicago.  wish him all the luck in the world there but he should feel very fortunate to still be collecting an NBA paycheck at this point.  Toine would switch places with him in a heartbeat and could still be more productive on the court even at this stage of his career.

They need to get ML to start tutoring Luke in the fine points of towel waiving

I'd welcome Scal back. He really belongs here.
