Great win for the Celtics tonight. I looked up the historical rivalry just because I was curious about the results between the Celtics and 76ers/Syracuse Nationals franchises and I discovered something so simply amazing that it's unbelieveable. Tonight was the first ever time the Boston Celtics won a Thursday game in Philadelphia!  The last time the Celtics won a Thursday road game against the Philly/Syracuse franchise before tonight was Thursday, February 9, 1956! I looked this up on shrp sports and sorted it by celtics game in philly on thursday(yes I know amazing you can sort it like that) Amazing with these teams playing so much over the years that there could still be a first time for these teams, just goes to show you that everyday something can happen.

uh, how many thursday games in philadelphia have there actually ever been, for comparison's sake?

i love odd trivia as much as the next guy but this doesn't mean too much if there have only been 6 or 7 games matching the criteria you mentioned.

TP for the obscure piece of trivia.  As suggested above, there's got to be a reason for this statistical oddity.  Like, is the Philly arena usually reserves for Flyers games on Thursday nights?
