I wonder if he makes more then a day this time.  Presser at 6pm to announce the Bowl Game will be his last game.

I would imagine Dan Mullen is already packing his bags from Miss. St. to take over, but you just never know with these things.

I think he discovered that he couldn't manage his health after all coaching.

Lol, at least Urban Meyer didn't abandon his team like Brian Kelly in order to pursue a coaching career at Notre Dame.

If y'all will remember the Cincinnati Bearcats were undefeated last season going into their bowl game vs the Florida Gators and Tim Tebow when Coach Kelly decided that he'd rather take his talents to South Bend, Indiana. Since then the Bearcats have regressed from a football team that was 9 and 0 and at one point and ranked fifth in the nation to an unranked team that is currently tied for the worst record in the Big East.

Notre Dame on the other hand is doing relatively well at 7-5, so at least Kelly can be credited for helping Notre Dame football achieve a winning record during his first season with the team. I'm thinking there may still be some resentment felt towards Brian Kelly by students and athletes in Cincinnati even as this year's college football season comes to a conclusion...

If the guy wants to step down to spend more time with his family, I totally understand it.

Football coaching at the college/pro level is nearly a 24/7 job and I'm sure its taken its toll at home.  A lot of these guys experience burnout or simply lose the passion as the years pass and they settle down.  I can't blame him.

Or he simply left one job to take another (better) job just like millions of Americans do.

Not that I think his style is fit for the NFL, but his former QB is currently looking for a coach.  Just saying. . .
do it

Well yeah. I'm responding to the post before saying he's not like Brian Kelly that abandoned Cincinatti for Notre Dame.

But I do agree you can abandon a job as opposed to just leaving for a better job.

Exhibit A    Lebron

Exhibi B     BC Coach Jags

Miami is a better job then Cleveland.  I was just in Cleveland and Miami, believe there is no contest here.

BC Coach was fired after interviewing for a head coaching position in the NFL before catching on as a coordinator.
