Oh, his feild goal % is ~.500, and he DOESN'T bother with 3 pointers, because he knows his role...!

Good for him.

But R u effing serious? Sheldon didn't play because he sucked. He was a terrible defender. He had bricks for hands. He was huge liability offensively & defensively.

Again good for Sheldon Williams.

Are you serious.....of course he didn't suck....I saw a player who knew the game, knew how to rebound, knew his role. No big deal if you didn't like him...but it isn't "magic" that he is now a starter, and a good player somewhere else....do you think it is magic that he has hands now, scores and plays well..?

I think some here evaluate players that they like or doslike by a different measure..you like him, you give him 1000 chances, you don't like him, you point out every mistake.

The playoffs, I say docs miscalculation, which he does all year by not playing his players, hoping no one gets injured...he never played sheldon the whole half of last year, then sticks him in in game 6.....the last time he played for the C's in the regular season he torched SA big time...!

Boston Celtics Vs. Denver Nuggets.

Dahynta Jones was starter on that team for godsake. You can play for them and score couple of points. They play no defense, and chuck shots with no conscious.

Showed our depth but he did poorly in the finals.  Last year helped him immensely practicing vs. Baby and KG.

They seem to like guys who didn't quite make it with us (Birdman & Jones with workouts the same year, Williams the next).

Jones is back to being a borderline NBA player this year.

Fortunately, Shelden doesn't have to worry about catching passes in that offense. Denver is 2nd in pace and 5th in points scored, but only tied for 17th in assists.

Shelden's rebounding is clearly NBA-quality. There will be teams that he will fit with. It just wasn't with us because his shortcomings were too difficult to overcome. The truth is, it only made a difference because Perk got hurt in game 6. If not for that, we aren't having this discussion.

Side note: I have long found it ironic that people critiqued Brown so much for the offensive system around Lebron, but Karl gets a free ride with the horrific way that Carmelo is used. There was a game last week or the week before where Carmelo hit a last second game winner. Looked good on highlights, but they didn't include the previous 2 possessions where Carmelo got the ball at the 3 pt line for an iso and forced his way into a crowd of defenders for a bad shot and a turnover. It is much easier to hit game winners when you get 3 chances.

Yes.

One plays defense (93points), the other doesn't (103points).

Not taking anything away from Sheldon. I'm glad he found a home. He simply doesn't cut it for a championship team.

Shelden never got a chance here. People thought he looked funny; but never looked at his character or his work ethic. Always liked him and glad he is getting an opportunity to show what he can do.

I thought Shelden looked like Ken Griffey Jr after he had Mr Burns Drink in the baseball epi

But nobody said Shelden was lazy or a poor character. he just wasn't a very good basketball player for the role we demanded.

Wow, 10 boards and less than 6 points in 25 minutes! we really let a gem get away there... ::)

I like sheldon, and agree he's a heck of a rebounder, but I think him and erden are pretty much a  wash...Ill stick with our front court.

Agree. That stat line isn't really all that to be amazed at either. He's got a rebound rate (rebound rate the % of available rebounds that any 1 player gets...so if I was a player, and there were 5 rebounds grabbed while I was on the floor, and I grabbed 1 of them, I'd have a rebound rate of 20.0) of 16.9 is pretty good, but its not anywhere close to the best in the league. The two guys next to him there are Mareese Speights and Jason Thompson.

Also, since he lacks much in the way of an offense, and most of his points are putbacks and opportunistic layins, his true shooting % of 52.7 (46th among PF's) is pretty terrible. He's a good rebounder, but a 'okay' defender, and a terrible offensive player. We're not suffering without him, and nobody is regretting letting him go. I'm glad he can get PT with someone, but I'm also glad its not us.
