KG to retire if there's a lockout next season?

I don't know how old this is, if it's been brought up or not, so I apologize if I'm repeating anyone else.

I don't know when this interview happened but KG did have an interview at least this season at some point where he was asked about the lockout and he said that if there does happen to be a lockout next season, which there's a very real chance it could happen, that KG will most likely retire.

There's no link because I believe it was a tv interview.  But man this could really change the landscape of the NBA if this happens

I would bet that if the NBA season next year is lost due to a lockout, KG, Ray, Shaq, and Jermaine all retire

Shaq is the only one I could conceivably see retiring before the 2012-2013 season.

Jermaine will only be 34 then, Ray is in magnificent shape and KG is looking sharp again.

I'd be shocked if this is Garnett's or Allen's last contract. I'd even be kinda surprised in Pierce actually retires after his.

If there were a lockout like in 1998-99, where basically only a half of the season was played, I think that would really benefit the old Celtic roster.

Also, I watched that KG interview, and I didn't necessarily think he was talking about retirement. I think he just meant his future is uncertain, whether that be due to retirement or changing teams. His contract would be up at that point, and I think he would just have too much basketball to offer still to retire, and the Celtics would most likely not be contenders at that point.

Mike Gorman was talking about a similar conversation he had with KG, so it's certainly something he's considering, (though I think he's way too competitive to let his career end that way). Shaq is the bigger possibility, as he's not quite as invested as the Big Ticket is.

Enjoy this year and hopefully next as much as you can. This is a special group and only when they are gone and retired will we all completely realize the magnitude of these hall of famers playing together.

A lockout won't happen. There is too much money to lose and it will completely ruin the NBA's reputation.

However, if there is one, it will NOT benefit the Celtics. Right now the Celtics have a great thing going with a lot of our stars at the end of their careers. Adding another year to their age before competing again will not help them one bit.

Plenty of lockouts have happened including the NBA about 12 years ago.  So to say it's not likely is very shortsighted.  You have to remember that the agreement between the owners and players lasts for many years and when they come up the lockout becomes a real possibility.  But like 12 years ago, it will most likely be a shortend season at most, and not a completely lost season like the NHL.

If a full season is lost I can see KG Ray Shaq JON all walking.  It's tough to comeback after an entire year off when you've been around the block as long as they have.
