Funny how this guy went to Memphis for "more playing time" only to see a rookie steal his role from him:

While I appreciate TA's play last year, they guy was honestly a moron. I don't know if people on here ever talked to him but I did in Oklahoma when he was here. The only language this guy spoke was ebonics. He seemed nice but it's sad he didn't recognize the opportunity he had here with the Celtics.

Instead of being a consistent contributor on a championship caliber team (either Marquise or Delonte is not brought back if TA stays) he is a consistent DNP on a lottery team/

Let this be a lesson to all that no side is Greener than the Boston Celtics' side!

Tony seems to have made a bad decision for himself if he was hoping for more playing time (though I doubt he'd be getting much more than that in Boston), but that doesn't make him a moron.  I'm guessing that smart people make mistakes too.

And I'd be cautious about assuming someone's level of intelligence from a conversation and a person's use of cultural dialect.  America is flooded with folks who don't speak 'the Queen's English' but who are nonetheless quite bright. 

Larry Bird (especially early in his career) and Mayor Menino come to mind.

True, although Tony's trip to junior college suggest that he wasn't exactly an Academic All-American in high school.  His criminal record also backs up his poor decision making.

Memphis isnt a lottery team but theyre pretty loaded at the wing and hes playing behind 2 young stars as opposed to 2 aging..I dont see where he figured he would get more minutes

I've had this argument with various folks for years.  He may not be brilliant, but I am convinced you can't be the chief executive of a large city for 20 years without some intellectual strengths -- hidden though they may be.

It's always interesting to me how casually fans can leave millions of dollars on the table when it's somebody else's money.  I think a lot of us would see things a little differently if it was our name on those checks.

I don't blame him for wanting more than a 2-year deal, either, especially coming off a 2-year contract.  The piece-of-mind factor is important, too.  And with an injury history, it has even more importance.

On the money, it is possible that with playoff money and assuming he got another contract, the money *might* have evened out, but I don't blame him one bit for taking the extra guaranteed year and money.

It's one thing for someone who has made serious dough to take less money (like Shaq), but for someone in TA's position, he made the right choice.

TA doesn't care at all, he get what he want - more money, now he's paid for just sitting on the bench, he gets money for doin' nothing, I'm sure that's fine with him and he's not regret his descision at all.
