Overall, I would have to say Joe Montana in Football would take the cake, in the NBA, probably Kareem.

Was Joe Montana still in his prime when he was traded?  Even though hockey is not as popular in America as football what about Wayne Gretzky?  I don't follow hockey but I think he was still in his prime when he was traded to the Kings.

  Kobe for Divac.

didn't Kobe ask to be traded when he was drafted? i know he wanted to play for the Lakers no matter what.

Dunno. All I remember is LA first tried to trade Divac to a Canadian team and shipped him to Charlotte when that fell through.

How about DJ to the Celts, btw?

Danny Ainge...he is a Celtic through and through.  He wasn't a franchise player, but he had to feel reasonably safe....

I know it broke my green Celtics heart at the time...

I was in shock. I'm still an Oilers fan to this day (not too much into hockey, though), because of Gretzky and those great teams. Also, check out the comments section, especially the top one  ;)
