I don't know if that is a career high or not, however I do know that Shaq was able to turn back the clock with his performance tonight against the New Jersey Nets. 25 points and a double-double ain't no small feat.

After the game I was watching some clips of O'Neal during his high school days when he was a McDonald's All-American. I'm not sure if he can run like he used to back then, however he certainly looks like he can still score like his younger self, if only occasionally.  8)

Not even close... since 2000 he has had a streak of 17/17,  12/12, and 10/10 4xs (I could only find stats from 2000 up to his time in Phx. early into the second season). He's terrible but every Shaq has his day! :)
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I find it hard to believe he has ever made 17 free throws in a row. Hard to believe even in an empty gym, let alone NBA games.

If true, he would have needed to miss his next 17 shots in a row to get to his career average lol.

i'm not so sure about the 17 in a row

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/847/gamelog;_ylt=AlGFFEOEdMPdGBiYiulTkxgBPKB4?year=2000

but he did make 13/13 in a game back in 2000

Then he probably did make 17 in a row, a few before and/or after.

My favorite statline of his was his excellent game of 26 pts, 17 reb, 5 ast, 5 blk, despite going 0-11 at the FT line LOL.

Is that a single-game record or something?

Shaq's career FT% is higher than Ray Allen's career 3-point percentage, 52.7% vs 39.6%.  Statistically, Shaq is way more likely to hit 17 free throws in a row than Ray Allen is to make 17 three's in a row.  Would the latter surprise you at all?

Shaq broke the single game record for free throws without a make in one game previously held by Wilt Chamberlain.

Shaq used to be a better FT shooter earlier in his career.

Yes it would surprise me greatly if Ray hit 17 bombs in a row in an NBA game, not in an empty gym, but they are different circumstances. FT are technically the same. 3PT shots vary depending on the spot, defense and how much time he has to put it up. It's really apples to oranges. In an empty gym, I would say Ray makes 3PTers at a better clip than Shaq makes FT's.

I don't know what the record is for most 3PTers in a row, but I highly doubt it is 17.

Terry Mills and Brent Price hold the record at 13.
