News: Miami released Stackhouse on Tuesday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Spin: The Heat needed to clear room to sign Erick Dampier, and Stackhouse paid the price. His departure leaves Miami with a pretty lopsided roster, since the team now has five centers and is one man thinner on the perimeter.

Anybody think he is worth the vet min for some insurance at the 3?

Nope he's even worse than Von Wafer at this point.

Love how he started the other night, played one more game, and now he is cut. Gotta love the NBA.

He can't even stick to the dysfunctional Heat roster?

Just remember, they kept Magloire over Stack.

I understand Magloire's value before they signed Dampier. He was valuable muscle. A useful third string center against teams with legit low post presences in the middle.

However, with Dampier in the fold? With Big Z and J.Anthony?

What is the point in keeping Magloire? Stackhouse was the more valuable piece.

This.

Joel Anthony is getting DNPs, Magloire and Juwan Howard are getting minutes, they have Big Z, and now they're signing Dampier. Really? You need 5 guys to play C? It's not like they'll form Voltron.

LOL! awesome reference Lucky. I can see the Heat management around the table wondering if they  can scrounge up enough mediocre big men to form Voltron!

Agreed.  It shocks me, with Wade nursing an injury and Miller out, that they'd release a shooting guard.  I meant, wasn't Stackhouse starting a couple of games ago?

Tells you a lot about how effective they think he is.

Or about the level of panic in the Miami front office.

Losing Haslem is a huge sucker punch to the gut for them.

Stackhouse was a bad fit on that team because of his lack of jump shooting ability but he was a good serviceable option on the wing until they found an upgrade in the FA market later in the year. They should have kept him until then.

I think it also tells you how little faith they have in Dampier.

Meh, Beasley was traded for nothing so they could sign Haslem/Miller. I don't think Miami was wrong to do so, nothing about Beasley makes me think he can thrive as a role player.

Both of those players got hurt, but the Heat don't know who's thumb and/or foot is going to break!

Wouldn't mind seeing Minny beat the Heat on a Beasley triple double, or 40 point night....!
Probably not this year, but stranger things have happened.
