This is not surprising...I expected them to make a move once Haslem went down.

They should have done this the first time.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Whatever happened to the Rockets signing Dampier?  Thought that was a done deal a while ago.

Couldn’t agree more.

Not enough...just not enough.

As Mike Fratello (or was it JVG?) says, having "depth" means having guys who are better than the other team's bench guys.  Miami doesn't.  Damp at 35 won't do much to change that.  They need more players...better players.

I must say that I am enjoying their fall much more than I should.  I'd like to think I'm a better person than this, but, apparently, no. ;D

He backed out when they lost five in a row.

Given Joel Anthony's struggles and Haslem's injuries this was bound to happen.

Plenty of minutes for Dampier now, and probably a starting spot if he wanted.

  • Rondo = Good
Dampier is just the sort of center they need to pair with Bosh, but it's a fair question as to whether he's simply too old at this point to really be what they need.

Still, a step in the right direction...size, rebounding, shot blocking, 1 on 1 post defense, a big body to take up space down low.  Dampier does all of that.  He just doesn't score except on the easiest of buckets...and he's old and just had knee surgery.

They finally smartened up. If I was Dampier I wouldnt go to them anymore after they shut him down the first time...

Great Pick-Up add toughness inside. He only can't resolve all their dysfunctionalities but should help. Their offense is still a mess. Lebron and Wade haven't found synergy on the court yet. Lebron Basically brought his 1v5 style to Miami. At some point, Miami Heat have to address that. Erick Dampier is a nice addition, Ways to go still.

This deal was as obvious as could be...

By the way, I am currently looking at a huge Lebron ad to the right of the Celticsblog logo.

Probably the best signing the Heat could hope for at the present, although I do have my doubts as to why it took so long into the season for Dampier to find a team...

I haven't seen Dampier play that much but from what I saw he can't catch the ball. I also think he is not in great shape but he can still help Miami on defense

Well because he just had surgery let's see how much he actually helps.

If they get any more injuries to any of their role players they are going to be really stretched thin because each time they sign a player in season they have to waive a player as well.
