Right now I'm a freshman in college down in Florida from Rhode Island and I am a huge fan of all the Boston big four teams, URI basketball, and a casual PC fan, and casual college football, but I am having trouble right now with the adjustment of being an out of market fan.

I have the NBA League Pass, NHL Center Ice, and MLB.TV, NFL Gamerewind and I have ways to watch URI basketball, but it's still not the same.

Now that I got these packages I find myself wanting to watch all the big games so I get my moneys worth (And not just of the Boston teams but I've been getting behind on those too).

I end up not being able to because of the amount of time it takes and I end up getting upset about that and then when I try I find myself thinking why am I doing this noone else is like this and it just keeps cycling.

Last year, when I was back home it was perfect because I would just watch my home teams with my dad and DVR games of my hometeams when I they conflicted with another and not care so much if I missed the games of the other teams because I didn't have the option to.

I use to just hating missing a minute of my favorite teams games and would try to avoid seeing the scores if there was a way I could watch it on delay (DVR or Online other ways than the packages), but now I hate missing parts of big games of teams I don't even care about and I don't like seeing scores because I want to watch those games.

Idk what to I wish it could go back to last year where I would just watch my favorite teams and pay attention to everything else that was going on in the leagues, but now I want to see everything.

It's the reason I haven't been on here lately because I'm behind on the C's trying to catch up and watch all these games that I end up not getting just about any of the games watched to be honest.

Ik I sound like I'm crazy and Ik I am but I honestly think I have OCD and thought that you guys would be able to help because ik that a lot of you are out of market fans and ik you are a good bunch of guys and would think that you'd have some tips for me to control it.

As you get older you have to budget your time more. This is one of those cases, its not really an "out-of-market" situation. Basically you now have more freedom see all the different potential games, you have to choose what is important to you. No one has infinite leisure time.

I've been an out of market fan for all of my life and for most of it league pass wasn't an option. So it was go out to a sports bar or just catch the national games. Now I have more chances to watch games but my time is more limited. I'm used to only seeing some games so its not so hard to make choices like that or miss some games.

It is partially out of market because when I was in market I didn't have all these options to watch these games so I didn't even think of it.

Thx though Fafnir TP!

My plan is to watch my favorite as first preference and watch the others when I can.

When I think out-of-market I usually think about people missing the fan enviroment of home, or just missing games because they can't go out for every game and can't get league pass. I see what you were getting at though.

The other thing I try to do is plan ahead. Pick out the important games ahead of time and build them into your schedule. That way you can balance it so you get to see all of your teams some.

I'm trying to make myself watch at least one game of each team this year, not against the C's. Its hard with some of the awful teams like Minny, Nets, and the Pacers.

Yeah I just need to find a balance.  Thx for the advice.

I think the thing I miss the most though is watching the games with my dad and brother and having someone to watch them with.  Being in contact with them while watching the games and on these game threads during stoppages and talking I think will make me get some of that back.

I just try and watch games live that my brother/dad are watching, that way we can call each other.

Game threads and chat are another godsend for that comraderie.

I became a hardcore Celtics fan because it was a way to stay connected with my brother while I was away from college. It coincided with the surprise run after Pitino left.

Yeah first thing so I can do that though is get my new phone activated lol.

Thx for the help Fafnir it really helped.  I wasn't so sure whether talking about it would help and if you guys would just think it was a dumb problem (even though it kind of is in the grand scheme of things), but it really has.

I still would like to hear what other members have to say if they have anything to.

Being a Celtic fan out of market is pretty easy now, or at least since the summer of 2007.  Prior to that time, it was an absolute nightmare.

Now, all the big games are nationally televised.  Also, you have great websites like Celticsblog,RedsArmy, and CelticsHub, along with ESPNBoston, CNNSI (which links to local papers) and other general sports websites.  I get enough Celtics to get me through the week all the time and it seems like they are on TV about once a week.

Worst case scenario - pretend you are a member of the 2009-2010 Celtics and only watch the postseason...

Just sit back and imagine what it was like following the C's from out state before things like League Pass and Espn (I guess ESPN existed, we just didn't have cable).  I got all my info from box scores and Inside Stuff highlights.  Games on NBC were a holiday for me.
