I'm pretty sure Rondo is the best pure point guard in the NBA at this point. Is there any debate to this??

It isn't clear what "pure" point guard means.

He is well suited to our team. He would probably not be as good as Paul if he were in New Orleans.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
He's having a great season so far. I didn't think he'd be able to maintain this level of play for so long (atleast not satistically). With the players he has around him and his mentality it's not surprising his assists numbers have shot through the roof, but 15 per game through ten games is simply amazing.

With that said he does have a lot of great players around him who make it easier. Rondo has more guys he can trust to finish a play than most pointguards. While the assists are great I'm starting to feel like the Big 3 are enabling him to get by while not improving the weaker parts of his game as he should (yes shooting, mainly the freethrows). I still can't believe how poorly he's shooting from the line and watching the Mavs choose to completely ignore him on a crunch time play was discouraging. What's worse is as of right now Shaq is shooting a higher percentage from the line than Rondo (9% higher). Rondo obviously still has some major flaws to correct in his game.

I love Rondo and wouldn't trade him for anyone else except a few select people in the league, but if you had the chance to start a new team and got to choose any point guard in the league, I'd have a difficult time not taking Deron Williams.

At this point in time it's more likely that the big three are as successful as they are because they play with Rondo. Rajon does have obvious flaws in his game but he also does some things better than any other pg in the league.

Rondo dishes the ball off to everybody successfully. It’s not like he only kicks it to one guys scoring 30 a game… from Glen Davis to guys like Tony Allen he just gets it to them right where they want it.

TP.

This is a great statement and is the key to good basketball: getting the right fit, the right guy for the chemistry of your team, and Rondo fits this team perfectly.

He doesn't need to score a lot or depend on his jump-shot right now, because we have so many other options ... that will come in time.

When the Big Three, (or Four), retire, Danny will build around Rondo, with this same mentality ... retaining the right chemistry that fits our leader on the court.

The other four starters have scored around 92,000 points in the NBA. This is an incredible situation for Rondo on what is promoted as a defensive team: the other 4 starters are among the greatest scorers of all time.

good times for us fans. How lucky are we to watch this?
When I was a kid a used reel to reel tapes to tape Johnny Most. My older brothers erased the tapes.

Just don't forget what you and we are seeing, we may never see anything like it again.

Rondo fits the team, but the team doesn't really fit Rondo. Would he really struggle on NO, with good three point shooters and younger, more athletic players that can run the break with him?

I think he might even do better on a running team.  His game is a lot of get up and go.

I can say with certainty that Rondo is the best Rondo in the NBA!

Rondo is the best player with an alliterative name in the league. He narrowly edges out Paul Pierce.

TP. I knew I was forgetting someone!

Although I'd still take our guys.  ;)
