Per the usual reliable source on Twitter, Chris Forsberg :

Quote
Doc suggests 2-3 week window on JO absence. Says team won't seek help outside organization unless it develops into a longer absence.

In related news, Marquis may miss Wednesday's game for family issues :

We will be OK take a whole month.  As long as when he comes back he doesn't go down again.

That is fine. JO needs to take his time and make sure he is actually healthy when he gets back. Its just the regular season, health is the most important thing right now.

Yeah, obviously you wish the players never miss game but the upcoming stretch should be an easy one for the team so it's a good time for him to rest, he probably won't be missed that much against the likes of Washington, Cleveland, New Jersey, etc (although these teams have so good big men).

Still, it's just an estimated period of absence, JO is still in the middle of tests/evaluations to evaluate the extent of the injury.

Initial guess from Doc is that Jermaine O'Neal will miss "2-3 weeks," but that timetable could change because tests/evaluations are ongoing

Yeah Im ok with this... Let him have his rest for a couple weeks. When he comes back it'll be time for Shaq to take a few games off anyway  :P

As long as Erden's shoulder holds up, that is fine. I'd rather shut JO down and let him get healthy than have him play intermittently and the injury linger.

Shaq, Erden, and Baby can share the 48 minutes at C.

This team will really be something to watch when at full strength. I believe we have had 3+ important players out every game thus far (Perk and West all 10 obviously, and either Shaq/JO too).

This is a soft part of the schedule, so its not a bad time to take some time off.  Hopefully everyone else can stay on the court however, because this does make them a bit thin.

No suprise here.  JO is a perpetually injured player.  News flash- even if he takes 3 months off, he's still going to be affected by one injury or another.  He always is.  I guess we will survive without his 4pts and 3rebounds per game.

Thank God we dont rely on this guy like the Pacers team of 7-8 years ago. Very frustrating. Lets just get him somewhat healthy for 3 months this year, April, May, and June...

It's okay for NOW.  But I am starting to get concerned about the entire season.  Last year I believe he played in 70 games which was the most for him in a long time.  Now he's had to take time out during camp, preseason, and regular season.  Given his injury history, it's not a surprise, but certainly a cause for concern.

I don't like how we need to continually adjust our bigs based on who is available.  Let's face it KG and BBD excel at being the 4's, not the 5's.  I think the changes just mess with the overall rythym.

Take your time. Hopefully we won't really need you until the playoffs.
