Too bad for Roy - he may have to shift his game to that of a high-level, moderate minute role player.  I think he definitely can't carry a team with these issues.

Looks like this Portland team will be joining the long list of "teams of the future" that always look better on paper than on the court.  Hopefully OKC will have better luck.

Keeps looking worse for the long term of his career.

Quote
Jason Quick of The Oregonian reports the Blazers are considering having Brandon Roy coming off the bench when the second half begins. It's not definite, but the idea has been discussed by head coach Nate McMillan and Roy.

"That's something we are going to have to keep talking about," Roy said Monday.

Roy is dealing with left knee issues now and McMillan says the shooting guard, Andre Miller and Marcus Camby seem to be stiff after halftime. The extra time would allow Roy more time to work with a trainer and stretch out before coming into the third quarter.

Wes Matthews and Nicolas Batum have been outplaying Roy by a large margin.

Given his current form, Roy doesn't deserve that starting spot. Period.

Things are looking very bad for Brandon Roy.

Why does he need extra time to work with a trainer and stretch out?  He can't just get to the game earlier?  Only playing him half the game might be beneficial but not for that reason.

They're talking about after halftime.  Older guys (like Camby) or guys with chronic issues (like Roy) tend to stiffen up during halftime no matter how long they stretched before the game.

i heard from Wojo too that a scout said that it will not be possible for Roy to be an all-star caliber player anymore, because he'll lose all his explosion.

to the person who brought up the Wally Szczerbiak reference, TP for you.

Blazers will really regret that contract.

True with the older guys but I didn't think Roy would have that problem.  I thought he was just playing in pain pretty much all the time.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Blazers are screwed for the next 4-5 years.  Gonna be too good not to at least come close to making the playoffs, but not bad enough to ever get decent picks.

Pritchard looked like he had built a great team up there in Portland, but it seems as though his gambles with injury prone players really burned the Blazers.

Let's see...I watched a couple recent games, and Roy played fine. I think he's good enough of a player and smart enough to still produce and help his team, even with those knees. He will manage it.

Yes they will, I was shocked when they gave it to him.

I shouldn't have been, but I was.

Hate to see an injury end anyone's career, why can't this happen to a guy like LeBron?

Stern seems to like them a lot they get a lot of high picks over the years.

No.  People on celticsblog were giving Ainge grief about ending up with Sebastian Telfair instead of Roy.  Rondo was a separate trade.

True, but people were upset that we got Rondo instead of Marcus Williams.  Oh, and let me just state that I wasn't one of those who wanted Williams over Rondo. 8)

The Blazers owner actually came out and said they knew of Roy's knee condition before he was given the big contract.  If that's really true all I can say is wow.
