On that play perhaps, but what of all the other Davis-Nowitzki matchups throughout the second half? I know the C's are shorthanded on bigs right now, but at least force Dirk to alter the normal trajectory of his shot.

Baby played him pretty good tonight, maybe not only that play… but it’s not like KG was shutting him down.  

Baby has no chance with Dirk catching the ball in that position. All he can do is force him to shoot the jumper.

I, too, noticed that KG was getting burned by Nowitzki drives. Nowitzki drives? Yes. Sadly so.

Garnett was trying to aggressively deny his jump shot. If he played him back further like Baby was he wouldn't have gotten past him.

Dirk is just a tough guy to cover offensively.

I guess what also bothers me is the NBA's scheduling. The season is still young and Boston's already had three back-to-backs, if my memory is correct. And there's the Lakers coasting with a cupcake schedule so far. Maybe everything will balance out in the end, but I don't know, will it? Does every team end up playing the same number of back-to-backs?

What, did you think the Celtics would be that different this year?

Our starting lineup is not that different.  In fact, in some ways it's worse - Shaq and JO are less healthy than Perk was for most of last year, and they're not finishing as well as he was for a lot of last year, either.

Our bench is considerably better, but still pretty trick-or-treat.

This team appears to have many of the same glaring weaknesses, particularly the offensive stagnation, turnovers, and letting up in the 3rd quarter / start of the 4th.

The Celtics are obviously one of the best teams in the league.  But I don't think we should expect a regular season that is all that much different than last year (unfortunately - last year was painful).

The C's were on pace for better than 62 wins at this point last year.  Doesn't mean very much.

We're going to have ups and downs this season.  We're not going to dominate.  Expect 50-55 wins, much like last year.

Yeah I agree, I d rather have this schedule after last season's before the playoffs strategy. Get enough games before the trading deadline and ease up to finish line. Good game tonight, can't be upset with the effort or pride shown by the players. I will say though, Nate needs to step up. They were just healthier than we were. KG was pressed into more minutes due to Jermaine's absence, and was great. This team is capable of dominating, but like the last 3 years injuries will effect that. Team knew Jermaine had a procedure done and allowed him to play doesn't help, is more frustrating than the outcome. Matter a fact, team needs to do a better job rehabbing players before they hit the court. Press Erden into action if need be, he definitely can play. Lasme too..oops that's right, go Wafer.

13 seems like on the lower end, 15 seems to be the most common number. Also learned a new acronym SEGABABA SEcond GAme of a BAck to BAck

The Patriots going 16-0 spoiled  New England fans. Now a minority overreact to everything. It was one game. You can't win them all. I feel like everyone has this sense of self entitlement that we have to win every game. I am as diehard as any, but take it all in context. This minority makes people in losing cities despise the majority more than they should.

Considering they played without a center most of the second half with JO playing only 10minutes in the game...i think they played well.Geez give them a break it was the second game of a back to back.

Congrats. You're the first one (besides me) to say it. But seriously, these guys seem to play hard, and play smart, for only about a quarter of each game. That makes it quite frustrating for me and other fans.

No need to be rudely sarcastic, I was just pointing out how BBD ended up on Dirk. Again its one game, I'm also a fan I know how it goes.

Everyone gets more leeway after a crappy loss. I just take it out on the refs  .

Speaking of the refs...

I didn't get to see the game, but in reviewing the ft disparity (20-7 Mavs; 47-42 rebs, 38-32 points in the paint Celtics) appeared to be the key difference in scoring.

Then, at the bottom of the box score, I saw that Bill Kennedy was the lead official.

Looks like it could have been one of those "NBA is the worst" kind of games...

Thoughts, anyone who saw the game?
