I have to admit I love that video.....I feel like it changes everything.  Nike and athletes have to think harder about how to come back from things they did clearly wrong now. They can't take fandom or forgiveness for granted.   It says "Hey Lebron. We're the fans. You work for us".

I definitely feel this video and Lebron himself have put a huge huge dent in his brand, and I don't think he'll ever recover from it. It won't be the same. He's Scottie Pippen from now on.

That's his new nickname....Scottie

Someone should start a "what should I do?" thread

While I would never say a player owes anything to any city, LeBron almost did. Every chance he got he threw bouquets at the team and the city. He talked about how much he liked the team, the coach, and the ownership. In reality, he probably hated all of it. If he indicated earlier than he did what his intentions were, not so many people would have been hurt by his 'decision.'

He may not be a "traitor" per se, but he definitely turned his back on his city of 25 years and fans of his entire career. He blindsided them like no other megastar probably ever has. He rubbed it in their faces and embarrassed an entire city. His tweets, his interviews, his Nike commercial and every other misstep he's made are only making it worse for the city of Cleveland.

This commercial expresses their genuine emotions.

I'm pretty sure December 2nd will produce louder boos than we can even imagine. It will probably surpass anything in recent memory. Usually, even when a guy comes back after leaving, there is usually some appreciation for him mixed with the boos.

I will definitely tune in just for the introductions.

for those that are interested, here is the original Nike ad

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdtejCR413c

The Cleveland response is much better.  South Park spoof much much better.  LBJ/Nike's ad is just plain bad, if you ask me.

What should I do? Should I admit I liked the original ad? Should I agree it made a point? What should I do?

And that, sir, is good for a TP.

win.

You know Nike crafted that commercial for Lebron PAINSTAKINGLY. They spent millions in production. To see it fail is just wonderful.

Couldn't tell if I hate the LeBron/Nike video worse than the Tiger/Nike video using Tiger's father's voice.  I find both repulsive.

Omg! I just showed Mrs. eja the commercial and the response and she was like "That's stupid. He's right. He's not their slave. That's life"

What should I do?

Should I divorce her or try to get couples therapy?

Should I just disappear?

What should I do?

Should I try to put it in terms she'd understand?

Honey this is like if .....uh....if....if Michele Obama turned her back on Oprah to make a special show with Elizabeth Hasselback.

What should I do? Should I just forgive her? Just pretend she didn't say it?

What should I do. Should I be what she wants me to be? What should I do?

Dude, unless your wife has given you a max contract and bought thousands of expensive tickets to see you, I think you are exempt.   ;D

Hilarious. I wonder if she'll make a response post.

eja: What should I do?
wife: What should you do? How about the freakin dishes when you say you will! And how come you always ask my brother when my birthday is!

I like the Michell Beadle spoof I saw on youtube. It kind of took the "boredom" angle, instead of the existential/moral angle.

or as I might say:

What should I do?

I had a dentist appointment, but they cancelled. So what should I do? Should I drive around for an hour? I had something else in town right after, so What should I do? Should I get a coffee? Read a book? What should I do?
