New assists record for Rondo

Rajon Rondo continued his torrent of assists, as he dished out 17 tonight. He's tallied 67 assists through the first four games of the season, which is a new NBA record for most assists through the first four games of the season. He passed the great John Stockton and Magic Johnson, who were both tied for the former record with 65.

What is amazing is how many open shots he got for everyone who shared the floor with him. He got KG some ridiculously easy baskets.

It wasn't as if his assists were inflated tonight by good shooting, as his teammates missed a considerable number of wide open looks off of his passes.

Obviously there's a long way to go, but what's the chances on Rondo breaking the NBA record for APG in a single season? He's insane right now with his passing.

Record is 14.5 by Stockton...I'd say very unlikely, we don't play very fast and his minutes will probably drop a bit when West returns.

The new swingman jerseys are still 90 bucks, but from what I can tell look a little better. I might just get one of those when the St. Patrick's day alternative ones come out.

Quite an impressive feat, but to be fair, we've faced 4 teams so far with weak interior defense (yes, that includes the opening-night Heat) that have played off Rondo, giving him room to work. 

Starting with the Bucks tomorrow, I expect things to become a lot harder for Rondo in terms of having the freedom to dish out all these dimes.  We won't be facing the Cavs, Knicks, and Pistons every night.
