Ugh, get ready to watch on mute. Tanguay may possibly be the worst play by play man of all time.

I cant stand him.. I love Gorman and Tommy. Ugh he is usually late on all plays that happen. He tries to be to much like a radio play by play..

Guh.

It will be amusing though to hear Tommy talk down to him, though.

Dickerson would probably be a better play-by-play guy.  Tanguay lacks the requisite social skills.

I thought of turning off the sound during the game at some point, Tanguay was terrible... he sounded like a giddy teenager excited to comment along Tommy and he overreacted on every Celtics play. Bring Gorman back!

Tanguay is horrific. All he does is over-laugh at Tommy’s jokes, and constantly kiss his ass.

I think Tommy hates him being there more than we do.

Tanguay? Didn't hear him say *anything* during the game.

That might've been because he was too far up Tommy's behind.

Man that was horrible.

He's definitely horrible, but he seemed better last night than he was last year.  I disliked him but I didn't feel the need to throw my tv out the window like last year.

The man is absolutely horrible.  There is NO chemistry between the two of them, and it seems as if Tanguay has no grasp for the feel of the game.  It's a shame that the most historic NBA franchise of all-time has to put this guy behind a microphone...

I realize that Mike Gorman has set the bar awfully high, and is one of the best to ever do his job, but there's no excuse for allowing Tanguay to fill that role.

It is difficult to listen to the broadcast when he does the games; however, I get the sense that he does all the butt kissing for *our* consumption more than anything. In other word, he does it out of respect for a fan base that, for many, hold Tommy in high regard. If I frame it cognitively in that perspective, it makes it more tolerable for me. I can respect someone who is trying to be culturally sensitive and respectful.

If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

Four years ago, he used the "Why not" line a lot after someone made a basket.

Yesterday, he kept saying something like "never shy to try" after someone attempted a shot...

As a fill-in emergency announcer, he should refrain from using those phrases. Gorman is fully entitled to say "got it"  since he has built his reputation as one of the league's best and most unbiased (even for play/play) announcers in the game.

Tanguay has a personality that may fit in some circumstances, but announcing should never be an option. He gets too excitable. There is also no rhythm in his delivery. With Gorman and most other credible announcers, they have an innate comfort and rhythm.

Tom Caron on NESN (not sure if he still works there) used to fill in as an announcer for Bruins and Red Sox telecasts and did fine. He seemed comfortable in his role. The root of the problem is that Tanguay doesn't know basketball and is cracking eggs over peoples' heads while he talks instead of talking normally and grooving with the game.

I like Gary in the role.
Guess I'm the only one here who does.
