I'm glad Delonte's sticking around.  We need to see how he can work in with our rotation.  I hope he and Wafer can stay out of it as they both seem pretty hot-headed.

I wonder who Jeff's source was who said Delonte was gone, though.
I wouldn't be surprised if Doc or KG or Paul wanted him gone.

Ainge could have over ruled them and is attempting to salvage the situation.

Says who? Paul and West were teammate for long time. Doc coached him for his first 3 years. Never heard those guys saying anything bad about Delonte even when he was with the enemy.

Von doesn't deserve to be sucker punched. However, I still believe Von instigated all of this. Hopefully the Veterans can squash the beef. I have zero worry.
Pure speculation on my part. I trust Jeff and his source that someone in the Celtics org wanted West gone. Paul and KG were mentioned as being upset about the fight. The other person who I think of having much pull in the org is Doc.

Jeff's source was wrong, get over it.  It happens.

Fact is, everything in Kennedy's article--minus the fact that a fight happened--has been explicitly contradicted by trusted reporters and even by Ainge himself.  They were all lies.

Nobody in the Cs organization wants him gone, and if they had to vote you can bet they'd cut Wafer instead. You really think Pierce would have a problem with Delonte punching out Von?  And KG?  KG has actually punched out teammates before, multiple times in fact, so I'm sure he understands the sentiment.

As soon as I saw their names involved in Kennedy's creative little "article" I knew I was being fed one-side agenda-driven crap straight from Wafer's camp.  That article was so transparent I'm surprised it gained so much traction for the couple hours that it did.

It's only a matter of time before Wafer's gone.  You don't rat out teammates for personal gain and live to become a part of the rotation.
*shrug* we're both speculating at this point.

I'm not sure what I need to "get over".

Anyone that concludes (from the limited information released) that Wafer needs to be cut (instead of West) needs to preface their statement with words, "I will bend the truth in any way that I can based on a guys value to the team".

Some of you guys are really stretching when blaming this on Wafer.  And like I said earlier, cutting Wafer for this incident (and not West) would send the wrong message.

As for me, I don't want West cut because he is a good player.  But at least I admit it.

lol @ this wrong message garbage.  This isn't High School, it's the Pro's.  Wafer stinks & is usless, Delonte will help this team get Banner 18.  That's all that maters. Most people on tthis board have never played on a sports team before, cause if the have, thy would know fights happen all the time & u move on.  See YA Von

Sounds like he is a punk.  I mean punching a man from behind is pretty cowardly.   Sounds like Von Wafer got up and clocked him a few times.   They should get rid of both of them acting like hoodlums.

While this is definitely unacceptable from both of them, fights happen all the time in all sports.  Nothing to see here.

Why keep Wafer?  Defense wins championships and he doesn't play it.

Why keep West?  He plays defense and is a better all around player.

Why keep both?  It makes no sense.

If one of them goes....bring in Lasme and play Bradley.

If they both go, bring in Lasme and Tiny Gallon, and play Bradley.

McCants is in the wings...trades are also possible.

The Celtics will move on to challenge for the title.

Both of these guys are kind of headcases. I guess if they really cant coexist then i like Delonte more as a player.

I've played on sports teams.  And yes, fights happen (though not all the time).  But you have to analyze the situation.  This is more than just one incident.  West, IMO, is dangerously close to being kicked off the team (and deservedly so).  I would estimate one more incident and he likely is gone.  So you have to look at more than just the one isolated incident.

In terms of this being the pros, you are giving them too much credit.  They have the same kind feelings and interactions as any team on any level.  If (and I understand this is a big IF) West is deemed to be at fault, how do you think the rest of the team would react to him, rather than West, being cut?  It would be stupid really.

And why are people so hung up on Wafer's play anyway.  He is a 15th man on a non guaranteed minimum contract. I don't care any more about his play than I do any other 15th man.  I certainly would not cut him for it because the next 15th man will suck just as much.

Anyone here think that maybe the team can hold off for a bit and that maybe Doc can work some of his magic that makes him one of the best personnel managers in the game?

Heck, none of this, even in the worst reports, sounds like anything my brother and I haven't done to each other.

Dump Von Wafer.

Not because of the fight.  Fights happen with ultra competitive guys.

Because he is almost useless on the floor right now.

Glad we pulled the win out in spite of this. I really think that the next 7 games will be the toughest for Delonte - just from the fact that he cannot play yet.

I believe that Wafer will help us eventually - he just needs to settle down and fulfill his role.

I just think some floor time will do wonders for DWest. He's itching to go and we need him.

Just a horrible situation. As soon as I read the 'Do something about it' story, I feared something like this may happen.

Of all players, Delonte should be the one doing his best NOT to rock the boat on this team.

Obviously West is the better player out of the 2 and possibly might help more on the court, but can this behaviour be tolerated?

Everything that has happened here would strongly suggest that Delonte will be involved in another incident sooner or later. Can the team afford to take that risk?

Has Delonte ever in his career had an incident where he got into a fight with another teammate or coach? I can't remember any, but I figured if anyone would know, it would be people on here.

Seems to me like this is his first incident of this kind for Delonte and that Wafer needs to stop being a baby and running to the locker room and Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing when Delonte kills him in scrimmages which he'll do all season if they both stay.

Well, here is something from our Blog main page:

"I did read that story and there was a lot of lies in that story," Ainge said. "Things were twisted. It’s not true. We’re not releasing Delonte. There have not been any other of these altercations that have happened this year.

"Whoever wrote the story had something [against] Delonte. That’s for sure. There’s some untruths in that story."

Can't figure out how to post the link, but it's from the Globe.

Just goes to show you - The Celtics must "Circle The Wagons", like they did last year, and have been rather successful at over the last few years.

Continue to keep it in house.

Somehow this one slipped out, and it shouldn't have.

Sometimes fights can bring a team even closer.

Plus Wafer really does suck. Can’t play defense, and his shooting isn’t good enough to stand as his only good positive trait.
