Miami Heat Home Opener: Far from sold out

The Heat say they still have several hundred tickets left for their home opener vs. Orlando tomorrow.

And after going to ticketmaster I can confirm, there are a TON of tickets still available. To be fair, tickets are pretty expensive. But still, pretty pathetic (and hilarious).

EDIT: I wrote the 'pretty expensive' party before checking out tickets on Stubhub. 80 dollars is pretty cheap considering the event.

I don't really have anything against Miami's franchise, I like D-Wade and I rooted for them in 06.

But stuff like this just highlights how undeserving Miami's fan base is to have a team like this.  It's nice outside in LA too, but they seem to move tickets just fine.

Seats for the Celtics opener were just as expensive this year and they didn't have much of a problem getting rid of those. The only difference is that the cheapest stubhub seat you could get on game day was over 200 dollars

Seats for the Celtics opener were just as expensive this year and they didn't have much of a problem getting rid of those. The only difference is that the cheapest stubhub seat you could get on game day was over 200 dollars

The $200 C's seats you are referring to are much better than those in MIA.  Also Ticketmaster is a standard mark up.  Stubhub you can't compare because the seller sets the price.  Just to put it into perspective, those end balcony seats cost $10 at the TD for a regular game (obviously they charged more for the home opener).  So the "premium" is insane for the worst seats in the house.

Not trying to defend the MIA fan-wagoners, but the prices are really ridiculous.

Only the last row remained at 13 dollars. After that the very same markups happened for us. $176 was the second cheapest seat in the house.

Why not? It shows that theres a lack of demand even at a fairly reasonable price.

I know it doesn't effect the Heat financially, but I post it to show a pretty alarming lack of interest in this team out of Miami.

This is their first chance to see this new team together, against a legit contender and rival who has a super-duper-star on it and an appropriate demand doesn't seem to be there. What'll happen in the middle of February when the Raptors are in town?

People won't be price gauging on typical games. Even if you have the money, are you going to buy seats in a crap seat? I'd rather watch at home than barely see the action for $80. And I am quite willing to spend on tix.

How long was that ticket sitting there online?

I guess two different school of thoughts. A game this big, I'd be willing to pay 80 bucks and have to watch it on the tv's in the concession lines.

Scratch that, bought heat-celtics tickets instead though. Nov. 11th can't come soon enough.
