He’s not THAT big. 6’9 with lean muscle… i think he’ll be able to stay healthy. Reminds me of Karl Malone without the post-up game (maybe you were right with Shawn Kemp)

I was thinking the same thing.  A far more skilled version of Kemp, and though it sounds ridiculous- maybe more athletic.  I love this guy.

Having said that though, you also could be dead on...only time will tell.

I'd say Griffin is quicker and can jump higher but Kemp was much stronger.

No way he's more athletic than Kemp. I'm biased, I watched him all thru high school, but I saw Shawn do some unbelievable things even before he got into the NBA. 

One of the nastiest dunks I ever witnessed was against a young but very talented Rick Fox who played at Warsaw, Indiana. Kemp had a 2 on 1 fast break and Fox was the lone guy back in the lane. Kemp coming from the left baseline caught a lob and did a 360 over Rick all in one motion. This was way back in '86, Shawn was only 17 at the time, but it is one of those memories I'll never forget.

He just destroys 7-foot Alton Lister at 2:20. Lister was known as one of the better shot blockers back then, too.

He got Mutumbo and aonther Nuggets player around 1:15, too...just amazing.

I need to change my thoughts, danny manny skills, lebron james athletic ability and then add in attitude of dave cowens.  His work ethic is amazing and I almost see him taking over the team in terms of leadership THIS year.

Yeah GreenFaith TP I was just watching those too...brings back some good memories of when the players were allowed to play. With todays rules Kemp would have been t'd and ejected in half of these highlights. Love the dap Chris Gatling gives Kemp after getting dunked on!!!

I like the Dave Cowens comparison, and I agree. I saw a portion of the game when Blake was on the bench, and it appeared as if the player next to his right was trying to speak with him or the player to Blake's left. Blake seemed too focused on the game to care. I like that.

I'm really pulling for this guy. I hope that he, Oden and Yao can remain healthy. If they do, the Lakers will have a harder trip back to the Finals.

That one on Alton is one of my all time favorite dunks in NBA history.  It randomly pops in my head at least several times a year since it happened.  Gotta love the taunt hahaha TP 4 joo.

Kemp is one of my alltime favorite players and dunkers, but I'd have to say that after exactly one nba game, Griffin already has two dunks worthy of being on Kemps alltime dunk highlight reel.  One game!

It's too bad they lost last night. I'd like to see the Clippers completely healthy before passing judgement, but I think Griffin needs to work on developing his back to the basket and face up game, as well as his jump shot.
