Ive never had a problem with this guys coaching, however, that might be because he never had to "coach" a team to some wins.  Right now the Miami Heat need a coach more than anything, someone to show them what to do, how to do it, how to learn each others instincts.  For whatever reason, when the C's came together Doc was able to do this right off the bat.  He built instant chemistry and gave them defined roles, with pretty regular rotations.  Last night Spoelstra's subs and rotations seemed off to me.  For example, Arroyo hits his first open jumper of the game, next time down the court hes on the bench.  Also, Lebron takes over and gets the Heat back withing striking distance, then Lebron is off the floor Pierce hits a few threes and they need another comeback.

Of course its the first game of the season and theyre really rusty and have only 3 minutes of cohesion together but Ive offically started to wonder whether or not Spoelstra is the guy for this job.  Didnt help that his first interview as the head of the Lebrons he looked scared.  Exhale.
The NBA..where "this whole sport is a business and the referees decide games and David Stern is a snake and is only in this for the money" happens.

He was kinda in a no-win situation last night with a team that hasn't had the opportunity to gel, yet it has outrageous expectations.

I believe Erik Spoelstra will be fine, as will the Heat. MIA looked disjointed last night - some of that due to lack of playing time from Wade in the pre-season, and some of that due to The Celtic's Defense.

MIA will be better next time we play them, but what makes me confident in our bunch is the fact that we'll be better, also.

I can't figure out why they didn't go after Dampier for the life of me. They need beef down in the paint, and Bosh, Big Z, Anthony and UD aren't enough.

Imagine what Number 12 and Gortat will do to MIA once they play ORL.

But again I believe that Spoelstra is a good coach and MIA will need time to gel. The unfortunate thing is that even as they are constructed now, I don't see them beating us (or ORL), especially once we get Perk and DWest back.

IMO, that won't be due to Spoelstra.

Too early to comment. Not enough time together.

I don't think they'd even begun working on their offense when Wade went down with an injury in that first preseason game. It was all focused on the defense in that first week of training camp. Then a few days before the opener with Wade back in training.

His rotations in the game seemed premeditated. He had them in mind before the game and wanted to stick with them rather than choosing the best matchups against whatever lineup Boston was using. I don't know if that is a long term issue or if Spoelstra is just trying to get his team into a settled rotation to start of the season so his players can get acclimated. If it is a long term thing, which I seriously doubt considering his impressive performance in this regard in the past, then it's a major worry for Miami.
